9:30 a.m. ET kickoff

Bengals vs. Falcons

  • Kickoff: 9:30 a.m. ET
  • TV: NFL Network
  • Analyst: Jason Logan

Top pick: Tee Higgins 75+ receiving yards

Bengals receiver Tee Higgins is coming off a monster day versus Tennessee, drawing 11 targets for 10 catches and 155 yards.

Higgins could be the best WR2 in the league, with Ja'Marr Chase drawing the ire of the secondary and leaving the 6-foot-4 Higgins with softer matchups. He gets a perfect pairing against Atlanta in Madrid.

The Falcons rank 24th in DVOA defending WR2s, allowing an average of 54.6 yards per game to the position. This secondary is also running a high rate of man coverage (10th most), and Higgins currently rates as the No. 1 WR versus man at PFF.

Projections for Higgins range from 74 to 88 yards on Sunday morning, with most models north of 80 yards, which is why he stands out among this week's Week 9 prop picks. My number comes out to 81.5 receiving yards in Madrid.

1 p.m. ET kickoffs

Broncos vs. Panthers

Top pick: Broncos -2.5

The Denver Broncos have been impressive in road environments this season, winning and covering in both away spots so far, a profile that fits our Week 9 against-the-spread picks. Shawn Krest points out Carolina's defensive line play and mid-season coaching changes as key vulnerabilities to exploit in his Broncos vs. Panthers predictions.

Browns vs. Saints

Top pick: Saints moneyline

Fresh off a bye week, New Orleans hosts a Cleveland side playing its third straight road contest. Neil Parker projects the Saints to control tempo and secure the victory in his Browns vs. Saints predictions, a straight-up call that fits alongside our Week 9 moneyline picks.

Cowboys vs. Colts

Top pick: Over 51.5

At this point in the season, it's pretty much Over or nothing in Dallas Cowboys games. This team is the perfect recipe for topping the total, and it's the kind of game our Week 9 Over/Under predictions are built around.

The offense is a high-octane attack, striking for big gains and playing at one of the fastest paces in the land. Meanwhile, the defense is a bunch of rusty lawn chairs, making every opposing passer look like an All-Pro arm.

The Colts' defense is just as rotten. Indianapolis is 27th in defensive DVOA at FTN and has allowed the third most yards per play to foes entering Week 9 (5.9).

Dak Prescott & Co. are arguably the best offense the Colts have clashed with, and Indy has hemorrhaged piles of points to other solid scoring attacks, giving up 30+ points in four games.

Lions vs. Dolphins

Top pick: Lions -6.5

Get comfortable with laying the points to -7 with the Detroit Lions in Week 9, and check the latest Week 9 odds and opening lines before you bet.

Detroit has tidied up on defense since its Week 6 bye with the sixth-ranked defensive success rate and three-and-out percentage.

Offensively, there are no concerns with the Lions ranking eighth in offensive DVOA and fifth in EPA per play while scoring the third-most points per game (29.0) for the season.

The Miami Dolphins have also emerged from their own Week 6 bye to win outright as a road underdog over the New York Jets before covering the spread in a 24-19 home loss to the New England Patriots.

Still, Miami has allowed the fifth-highest EPA per play and offensive success rate during the two-game stretch, and the Dolphins have surrendered the ninth-most points per game (25.9) for the season.

Simply put, Detroit is better on both sides of the ball.

Rams vs. Commanders

Top pick: Rams -4.5

The Los Angeles Rams are digging deep to save this season, and consecutive double-digit wins (2-0 ATS) make the visitors worthy favorites here against the Washington Commanders.

It starts with the L.A. defense, which is generating a 41% pressure rate on QB dropbacks (third-best in the NFL) and could welcome back Myles Garrett on Sunday to finish those plays.

That unit can set up short fields for Matthew Stafford to pad the lead, and Sean McVay's tight end-heavy sets should create easy checkdowns, ample rushing lanes, and play-action shots to Puka Nacua.

The Commanders had lost three straight before beating up on the short-handed Philadelphia Eagles last weekend — and if the hosts fall behind, it's hard to trust the Washington passing game, which ranks 26th in completion percentage (60.6%). I'd play this up to -5.5 and 56%.

Jets vs. Chiefs

  • Kickoff: 1 p.m. ET
  • TV: CBS
  • Analyst: Ed Scimia

Top pick: Over 47.5

The New York Jets came into the season expecting to ride their defense to victories, but injuries and a general inability to stop the passing game have exposed that plan.

New York has allowed 30.7 ppg over the last three weeks as several key members of the secondary are out of action, and the Jets rank just 19th overall in defensive EPA per play (-0.02).

Patrick Mahomes, Kenneth Walker III, and the rest of the Kansas City Chiefs offense — averaging 23.9 ppg and 6.4 yards per play — will take full advantage of that weakness, but the Jets can score, too. Geno Smith has been very efficient at quarterback, and Braelon Allen has emerged as a weapon in the backfield, with New York scoring 25+ points in back-to-back games.

The offenses will dominate on Sunday, and I'm backing the Over at up to 58%.

Giants vs. Eagles

Top pick: Giants -3.5

The Philadelphia Eagles have dropped to 26th in defensive DVOA while scoring just 14.8 points per game during their six-game losing streak, so I'm happy to recommend the New York Giants spread as long as it remains below the key number of 4.

New York is coming off its bye week, and quarterback J.J. McCarthy has thrown for a high-end 10.1 yards per attempt. I also expect the extra week of practice reps to help his chemistry with go-to targets Malik Nabers, Malachi Fields, and Isaiah Likely.

Philly quarterback Joe Milton III will be making the first start of his NFL career, part of a Week 9 backup quarterback wave, with top receivers DeVonta Smith (hamstring) and Dontayvion Wicks (ankle) looking more and more unlikely to suit up.

The Eagles already rank last in the NFL in explosive play rate, and No. 1 running back Saquon Barkley (hamstring/back) has been limited to just 36 snaps over the past five weeks, missed two games entirely and doesn't look 100%.

It all adds up to the G-Men covering the number for the 13th time in their last 19 games.

4:05 p.m. ET kickoff

Texans vs. Chargers

Top pick: Texans -5.5

The Houston Texans may be sitting at 2-5, but they're a much better offensive team. Houston is averaging 23.6 ppg (12th) compared to a league-worst 14.1 points per contest for the Los Angeles Chargers.

I also expect a long day for Justin Herbert, who has already been sacked 23 times. He's up against a Texans pass rush that has the fifth-most sacks in the AFC.

Will Anderson Jr. leads the unit with 7.5 sacks. C.J. Stroud, meanwhile, has thrown just one interception this season. Houston has also won both road games this season, and I expect the Texans to cover on Sunday.

Packers vs. Patriots

Top pick: Packers +3.5

Geoff Clark likes Green Bay's net early-down efficiency and pass-rush matchup advantage in Foxborough. Read his full analysis in his Packers vs. Patriots predictions.

Raiders vs. 49ers

Top pick: Raiders +9.5

This is too many points for the Las Vegas Raiders, and I'm comfortable recommending them to cover down to +8.5.

NFL favorites of at least seven points are just 6-20-3 against the spread this season, including teams trading at -9.5 or higher going 3-6. It's one of several spots this week where taking the points looks right, as laid out in our Week 9 underdog picks.

The Raiders have scored the sixth-most points per game (27.6), and quarterback Kirk Cousins is Top 10 in both EPA per play and success rate.

There is a bevy of injury question marks on both sides of the ball for the San Francisco 49ers, and they ranked 14th in EPA per dropback and 15th in dropback success rate across their four games leading into their Week 8 bye.

As a result, expect Vegas to hang around on Sunday afternoon.

Cardinals vs. Seahawks

  • Kickoff: 4:25 p.m. ET
  • TV: FOX
  • Analyst: Sam Farley

Top pick: Over 38.5

The Over 38.5 sits at 52%, and while nobody expected a Gardner Minshew vs. Drew Lock battle two weeks ago, it sets us up for a high-scoring game. Our Week 9 AI score predictions offer another look at the total.

Lock threw three touchdown passes in Week 2 when these teams met, finishing with a 139.1 QB rating, as the Seattle Seahawks scored 31 points. With Jadarian Price and Zach Charbonnet returning last week, their ground game improved, as did their pass protection, which will help Lock.

A week of practice puts Minshew in a strong position after a sensational cameo last week. He added some much-needed juice to this offense, throwing three touchdowns. His 75% completion percentage on passes of 20+ yards was a huge increase from Jacoby Brissett, who had averaged 20.7% across the season.

Sunday Night Football

Buccaneers vs. Bears

Top pick: Caleb Williams Under 250.5 passing yards

Caleb Williams' passing prop for SNF spikes as high as 250 yards at some markets, despite what the Buccaneers bring to the table.

Not only is Tampa Bay one of the stingiest pass defenses during its recent winning streak, but the Bucs' run-centric offense is hogging the ball and not letting opposing passers get off the bench.

They've handed off on 53.5% of snaps in the last four games, utilizing a pace that would make molasses shake its head, burning the fourth most seconds per play clock. That's put Tampa No. 1 in time of possession — a stat the Bears have leaned on heavily this season, as detailed in our Week 9 NFL trends that matter.

When Williams does get a touch, he'll have a tough time beating the Bucs deep. They give up the seventh fewest "explosive" passes and force foes into an average depth of target of 6.6 yards — an NFL-low.

Projections for Williams are conservative, with the majority coming in short of 250 passing yards with a basement forecast of 202 yards from one respected source. My number bubbles down to 237 yards from the Bears QB.

Monday Night Football

Bills vs. Vikings

  • Kickoff: 8:15 p.m. ET (Mon)
  • TV: ESPN
  • Analyst: Josh Inglis

Top pick: Under 44.5

The Minnesota Vikings have flown under the radar as one of the best Under teams in the NFL over the last 12 months. They've hit the Under in 16 of their last 19 games, generating a cool 60% ROI.

This 44.5-point total has seen some movement to the Under elsewhere, crossing the key number of 44, and was as high as 47.5 in the Week 9 lookahead odds when Kyler Murray was expected under center.

Buffalo could be without three starting offensive linemen against this dangerous defense. LT Dion Dawkins and LG Alec Anderson both missed practice this week, while RT Spencer Brown missed Week 8 and remains questionable. To make matters worse, Josh Palmer is doubtful, DJ Moore has been limited, and Khalil Shakir was a DNP on Friday for personal reasons.

Buffalo could put up 25 points, and this could still be a comfortable Under with how ugly Wentz and this offense have looked. The Bills' defense pressures QBs at the third-highest rate, and this was already a Bottom 5 offense with Murray under center.
