Underdog Fantasy contests
Underdog Fantasy offers two main types of competitions: traditional draft mode and Pick'em. I've tried both systems and have outlined how they work below:
Traditional draft mode
The first type of game is a traditional draft mode in which you draft your team under a salary cap. The cost of drafting a team ranges between $3 and $2,500. You can go head-to-head against another team or pit your skill against up to 20,000 other teams. Simply choose a competition you want to enter, like the 2025-26 NFL season, draft your team, and wait for the results. Underdog Fantasy charges a “rake” for draft contests, ranging between 5% to approximately 11%, depending on the entry fee. For example, a $3 draft involving three teams pays out a total of $8, which equates to a $1 rake. If you play a $2,500 draft heads up, the house takes $250, which is 5% of the prize pool.
Pick'em
The other type of contest is called Pick’em. As mentioned earlier, this is essentially standard over/under betting. For example, you could wager on Derrick Henry to rush under or over 83.5 rushing yards and can also wager on whether he will have more or less than 18.5 rushing attempts. There are two ways to bet Pick’ems.
- Standard Bet: This is a standard parlay bet — with between two and five legs — which means you need to get your predictions 100% right.
- Flexed Bet: Flexed Bet is akin to traditional combination bets, in which you need to make at least three selections and as many as eight. And just like round robins, you can still win even if one or more selections miss.
