Houston’s elite pass rush is set to make life miserable for Justin Herbert.

The Texans vs. Chargers prediction favors Houston, a 5.5-point favorite for Sunday's 4:05 p.m. ET kickoff at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.

The Chargers remain winless, and I expect the Texans to keep them that way.

For more, check out my NFL picks for Sunday, Nov. 8.

TOP PICK
Texans vs Chargers prediction: Texans -5.5

Play up to 57%.

The Houston Texans may be sitting at 2-5, but they're a much better offensive team. Houston is averaging 23.6 ppg (12th) compared to a league-worst 14.1 points per contest for the Los Angeles Chargers.

I also expect a long day for Justin Herbert, who has already been sacked 23 times. He's up against a Texans pass rush that has the fifth-most sacks in the AFC.

Will Anderson Jr. leads the unit with 7.5 sacks. C.J. Stroud, meanwhile, has thrown just one interception this season. Houston has also won both road games this season, and I expect the Texans to cover on Sunday.

Covers COVERS INTEL: Houston ranks 13th in offensive EPA per play (+0.02), while Los Angeles sits dead last in the NFL (-0.25). That's a significant efficiency mismatch in favor of the Texans.

Texans vs Chargers combo

I expect a low-scoring Week 9 affair. Herbert will likely struggle to move the ball, given Houston's success pressuring the quarterback, and LA hasn't scored a touchdown in back-to-back games.

Houston has been more productive offensively, but the Texans haven't been particularly consistent either. I expect them to score 20-25 points while limiting the Chargers to 10-14, keeping this contest comfortably Under 40.5.

Tre' Harris has been one of LA's more reliable targets this season. He has 18 receptions on 29 targets, and the youngster has cashed the Over in three of his last four outings. Houston's secondary isn't great, ranking 28th in passing yards allowed.

Texans vs Chargers combo

  • Texans -5.5
  • Under 40.5
  • Tre' Harris Over 2.5 receptions

Texans vs Chargers touchdown scorer: Nico Collins

Play up to 42%.

Nico Collins is second on the Texans in receptions (24) and tied for first in TDs (3). He has five red-zone targets this season with three catches, turning two of those into scores.

Stroud frequently targets him, and Collins' physicality is a major strength near the goal line. Even though the Chargers have been particularly solid at defending in the red zone, Collins is my strongest look for an anytime touchdown on Sunday.
