March 4, 2026: Just one day after Michigan and its Attorney General filed its lawsuit against Kalshi, Polymarket retaliated with its own suit.   

Feb. 19, 2026: Michigan had its lowest January sports betting handle since 2023 with the Detroit Lions playoff-less season leading to a significant decrease in wagering.

Feb. 11, 2026: Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer proposed a per-bet sports wagering tax similar to Illinois, charging operators 25 cents for the first 20 million bets and 50 cents for each additional wager.

Jan. 23, 2026: Michigan's December $512.9 million monthly online wagering handle was down 14.2% year-over-year, yet sportsbooks reported $84 million in gross revenue.
