Sales of earplugs in the Tampa area soared in 2024, congruently rising with every touchdown strike from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The cannons at Raymond James Stadium were busy, with the Bucs ranking fourth in scoring overall. Those seated in the north end zone are expected to have more ringing in their ears in 2025, as this offensive attack remains elite.

That’s been enough to secure the NFC South crown, but if Tampa Bay is going to contend for a Super Bowl or cover the spread Todd Bowles’ defense has got to push back.

Look-ahead lines have the Buccaneers as favorites in 12 games, and several Over/Under totals are above 47 points. Those odds pretty much tell the tale of Tampa.

Here’s my 2025 Tampa Bay Buccaneers betting preview.

Best futures bet: First in NFC South (+100)

Improvements from Carolina and Atlanta don’t scare me off getting Tampa Bay at EVEN money to win its fifth straight NFC South title.

The Bucs have a playmaker in Baker Mayfield, a deep receiving corps, a great ground game, and a Top-5 offensive line. The defense remains the sore spot, but the schedule isn’t a tough as last year, at least when measuring QB competition.

It’s not too tough to find 10 wins in 2025, and that will be enough to claim the crown in the dirty south once again.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at a glance: Totals in Tampa

Great offense. Bad defense. A 12-5 Over/Under count in 2024.

Things don’t change much this season. The first half of the slate does have some better defensive foes coming at the Bucs; however, the home stretch is ripe for a run and plenty of points.

The Bucs need to keep scoring to keep pace in the NFC pecking order.

What will win bets: Offense

If there was a hiccup to this attack, it’s that Josh Grizzard is the Bucs’ fourth offensive coordinator in four seasons after Dave Canales and Liam Cohen parlayed their success into head coaching gigs.

Grizzard is an internal promotion, and if it’s not broke, don’t fix it. I expect the same high-octane attack from Tampa Bay.

Mayfield plays fearless football and can make something from nothing when things break down. The combo of Mike Evans and Chris Godwin (returning in October) is bolstered by TE Cade Otton and rookie WR Emeka Egbuka, as well as Jalen McMillian (neck) expected back later in the year.

Second-year running back Bucky Irving found plenty of clean air thanks to that potent pass game and an offensive line rated No. 6 in run block win rate at ESPN. Tampa finished No. 6 in EPA per handoff and success rate per run.

What will lose bets: Pass defense

Bowles rolls the dice on defense. He brings blitz at one of the highest rates in the league, generating solid pressure. That does leave the Bucs susceptible to big plays, however, allowing the eighth most passing plays of 20 yards or more in 2024.

All that chaos up front didn’t generate many “game-changing” plays either. While the Buccaneers collected 46 sacks, there were only 18 takeaways, and just seven of those were interceptions.

We’ll see where this stop unit stands after matchups with C.J. Stroud, Jalen Hurts, Brock Purdy, Jared Goff, Josh Allen, and Matt Stafford in the opening 12 weeks.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers schedule + spot bet: Rough seas to start

The NFC South schedule cushions the blow of the 2025 schedule, which is packed with playoff-bound contenders.

The Buccaneers’ offense will be put to the test in the first 11 weeks of 2025. Defenses like Houston, Philadelphia, Seattle, Detroit, New England, and Buffalo are on the card.

Luckily for Tampa, the home stretch is smooth sailing. The Bucs play four of their final six at home, taking on Arizona. New Orleans, Miami, Atlanta, and Carolina twice. Bookies have them as faves of -3.5 or higher in five of those contests.

Spot bet: Week 8 at New Orleans -5.5, 45.5

A mid-season NFC South rivalry is boobytrapped with plenty of slippery situational edges.

The Buccaneers are playing back-to-back road games on a short week, also cramming three away games into the last four contests.

A letdown looms large after a Monday matchup at Detroit in Week 9, and a look-ahead to a bye in Week 10 could take Tampa’s eyes off the prize.

Mix in a 5.5-point spread, which will likely grow to -7 by October 26, and I’m treading lightly with Tampa in Week 8.

Shake and Baker

Market bet365
Win MVP +2500
Lead NFL in passing yards +1200
Over 3800.5 passing yards -110
Under 3800.5 passing yards -110
Over 29.5 passing touchdowns -110
Under 29.5 passing touchdowns -110

Baker Mayfield best bet: Over 3,800.5 passing yards

If the defense can’t contain rival passing games, the Bucs will find themselves in shootouts each Sunday.

Mayfield has proven his worth as a passer, and this receiving corps is absolutely loaded, especially when Godwin and McMillan return to the mix. This is a big strike passing playbook, putting up 58 completions of 20 or more yards in 2024.

The Bucs' gunslinger went for 4,000-plus the past two seasons, and 2025 projections clear that bar, with forecasts hovering around 4,200 give or take a possible Week 18 rest spot. Mayfield is also the fourth overall favorite to lead the NFL in passing yards, which would put him over 4,000 yards based on past seasons.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers trend: Road covers

The Buccaneers have been road warriors the past two seasons, boasting a 13-4 ATS record as visitors 76.5%). That includes a 5-3 ATS count on the road in 2024.

Look-ahead lines have Tampa Bay as road chalk in five of its nine away tilts in 2025 and road dogs just four times: at Houston, at Detroit, at Buffalo, and at the L.A. Rams.

The Bucs are 10-2 ATS when getting points in enemy territory since 2023.
