My Georgia vs. Ole Miss prediction and college football picks for tonight expect Kirby Smart's defense to rise to the occasion against Trinidad Chambliss & Co. as the Bulldogs seek revenge for last year's Sugar Bowl loss to the Rebels.
Georgia is a 3.5-point favorite as it visits Vaught-Hemingway Stadium in Oxford, Miss., on Saturday, Nov. 7, while the total sits at 56.5. Don't miss kickoff at 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
TOP PICK
Who will win Georgia vs Ole Miss today: Georgia -3.5
Georgia and Ole Miss played two wild shootouts last year, with the Bulldogs winning the regular-season matchup and the Rebels taking it in the Sugar Bowl. This time around, I like Georgia to cover as many as 6.5 points on the road against Ole Miss.
Defense will be the difference in the matchup this year, with Georgia having one of the best in the country (ranked No. 2 by SP+), and Ole Miss' being one of the worst in the SEC. With the Rebels down All-American running back Kewan Lacy, the Bulldogs' defense can lock in on stopping Trinidad Chambliss.
Chambliss has faced one other defense ranked top five by SP+, Texas, and struggled in a loss. Against the Longhorns, he threw three interceptions and put up a season-low 60% adjusted completion percentage.

Georgia vs Ole Miss Over/Under pick: Under 56.5
Though both games between these teams last year were full of points, Georgia's defense should keep it relatively low-scoring this time around, and I would play the Under at 55.5 or better.
The Bulldogs' defense ranks top 20 nationally in available yards percentage (33.5%), havoc rate (19.4%), and success rate allowed (35.2%). With no Lacy for Ole Miss, it'll put even more on Chambliss, who has frequently had to carry the team this season, and we saw that approach fall flat against Texas.
However, Georgia's offense hasn't been lighting up the scoreboard lately either, averaging just 23.6 points per game in its last three outings. So while this is one of the must-watch matchups in my Week 10 Top 25 predictions, it's not because I'm expecting another shootout.
Georgia vs Ole Miss combo
Ole Miss is a feast-or-famine type of team. The Rebels beat LSU and Missouri, but were blown out by Florida and fell behind so quickly against Texas that they couldn't dig themselves out.
That's what happens when you lean so heavily on a star QB to make up for an inconsistent run game and one of the worst defenses in the SEC. Against Georgia, Chambliss won't be Superman; Smart has too much NFL talent on a defense that's allowed more than 20 points just once this season.
If Ole Miss falls behind, Georgia's offense will lean on Gunner Stockton to manage the game and take a ball-control approach against a Rebels defense ranked 88th in the country in EPA per rush.
Georgia vs Ole Miss combo
- Georgia -3.5
- Ole Miss team total Under 26.5
- Georgia team total Over 30.5
Georgia vs Ole Miss prop: Ole Miss team total Under 26.5
Chambliss can only do so much, and against a freakishly athletic and long Georgia defense, I don't think Ole Miss will be scoring at nearly as high a clip as it has against lesser SEC teams. I would take the Under on Ole Miss' team total at 24.5 or better.
Georgia linebacker Chris Cole is arguably the best defensive player in the country, and Glenn Schumann and Kirby Smart could deploy him as a Chambliss stopper. With 4.5 40-yard dash speed and nearly 34-inch arms, Cole has earned his nickname of "Tarantula."
Look for the Bulldogs to spy Chambliss with him and use him as a blitzer too; he leads Georgia in pressures (24) and pass-rush win rate (17.4%). With Cole hunting Chambliss and the Bulldogs' defense ranking top 20 in rush success rate (37.8%), Ole Miss will struggle to find the end zone.
