Expert Week 10 CFB moneyline picks

Central Michigan vs. Eastern Michigan: Eastern Michigan

Eastern Michigan has been more competitive in conference play, while Central Michigan has struggled to find points. The Eagles nearly knocked off Ohio last time out, driving the length of the field to take a late lead before surrendering a kickoff-return touchdown.

Central Michigan has dropped three straight, scoring 14 or fewer points twice. In Detroit, I'll back Eastern Michigan to finish the job this time.

Nebraska at Illinois: Nebraska

Nebraska has lost three straight, but those defeats came by a combined 13 points against Washington, Oregon, and Indiana. The Cornhuskers have remained competitive thanks to a defense capable of slowing both the run and pass.

Illinois has struggled to get stops through the air and on third down. Nebraska has the better defensive foundation, and I'm backing the Huskers to finally turn a close game into a win.

Clemson at Syracuse: Clemson

Clemson's offense has made life harder than it should be, but its defense gives it the better path in this matchup. The Tigers just won at Florida State, while Syracuse needed narrow escapes against North Carolina and SMU.

Clemson can pressure the Orange into mistakes and keep the scoring manageable. I'm trusting the Tigers' defense to travel, even if the offense makes us sweat.

Texas at Missouri: Missouri

Missouri gets Texas at home after hammering Arkansas 34-10, and I like the Tigers' chances to make this an uncomfortable afternoon. Their defense has already held Texas A&M to six points, and the running game gives them a way to control the clock.

Texas brings the stronger reputation, but Missouri has enough physicality to keep it close and steal this late.

UCLA at Minnesota: UCLA

UCLA's unbeaten record has been built on a defense allowing fewer than 14 points per game, and that's a bad matchup for a Minnesota offense that's struggled to finish drives.

The Bruins held their last two opponents to 17 combined points. Even with questions at quarterback, UCLA doesn't need a huge offensive performance here. Win the field-position battle, avoid turnovers, and let that defense work.

BYU at Utah: Utah

Utah has earned its unbeaten record with a balanced offense and a defense that rarely gives opponents easy points. Devon Dampier can beat teams with his arm or legs, and the Utes just hung 49 on Cincinnati.

BYU will bring plenty of emotion into the Holy War, but Utah gets this rivalry at home and has the more dependable formula on both sides of the ball.

Alabama at LSU: LSU

LSU has the defensive tools to make Alabama work for every point. The Tigers just blanked Mississippi State and previously held Texas A&M to six, while Alabama managed only 10 at Tennessee.

Sam Leavitt gives LSU another way to create offense when the passing game stalls. In Baton Rouge, I'll back the Tigers to win the physical battle and turn this into their kind of game.

Kentucky at Tennessee: Tennessee

Tennessee's defense is the difference for me. The Volunteers held Alabama to 10 points and have been far stingier than Kentucky across the season.

The Wildcats deserve respect after beating LSU and Oklahoma, but they're walking into Neyland Stadium against a team that can make drives miserable.

Tennessee doesn't need fireworks on offense if it consistently wins on early downs and forces Kentucky into obvious passing situations.

Miami at Notre Dame: Miami

Miami keeps finding ways to score, putting up at least 38 points in five straight games. That firepower matters against a Notre Dame defense that would rather dictate the pace.

The Hurricanes have shown they can move the ball through the air, and that's where their upset chance lives. South Bend is a tough assignment, but I'll take Miami's playmakers at this underdog price.

Georgia at Ole Miss: Ole Miss

Ole Miss has the quarterback to give Georgia real problems. Trinidad Chambliss can attack downfield, and the Rebels just scored 45 against Auburn after dominating Missouri 31-3.

Georgia's run defense is excellent, so the answer is letting Chambliss challenge the secondary rather than forcing the ground game. At home, Ole Miss has the offense to trade punches and deliver the upset.

Colorado at Arizona State: Arizona State

Arizona State has a clear matchup to attack against Colorado's vulnerable pass defense. Reed Harris has become a reliable high-volume target, while Cardae Mack gives the Sun Devils someone to lean on in the backfield.

Colorado comes in with momentum after upsetting Kansas State, but its defense still leaves opportunities. In Tempe, I'll back Arizona State to make enough explosive plays to outscore the Buffaloes.

Air Force at Army: Army

Memphis shredded Army's defense, so there's no pretending this is a comfortable pick. But the Black Knights still ran for 320 yards in that loss, showing the ground game hasn't disappeared.

Against Air Force, sustained drives and avoiding giveaways matter more than style points. Army gets this service-academy showdown at home, and I'm backing its rushing attack to control possession and deliver a response.
