Prop pick #1: Calvin Russell III Over 51.5 Receiving Yards
Syracuse wants to get its money's worth with five-star freshman Calvin Russell III. That means the precocious pass-catcher will keep seeing a healthy dose of volume after handling 23 targets over his last three games.
His production has matched it, averaging 60 yards over that span. Not bad for a first-year player coming off an Achilles injury, especially since he had both a touchdown and a 50-plus-yard reception wiped off the board a week ago that would have further inflated his statistics.
Clemson isn't a stay-away matchup, ranking 84th in EPA per pass and 88th in passing success rate since Week 5. Russell's ascent will continue here in a home game on the fast track at the JMA Wireless Dome.
- Matchup: Clemson vs. Syracuse
- Date/Time: Saturday, Nov. 7 at noon ET
- Location: JMA Wireless Dome, Syracuse, N.Y.
- TV: ESPN2
Prop pick #2: Drew Mestemaker Over 2.5 Passing Touchdowns
Not many quarterbacks are slinging it like Oklahoma State's Drew Mestemaker. The North Texas transfer ranks second nationally with 331.1 passing yards per game, and he's doing it efficiently (9.4 yards per attempt).
He's climbed up the NFL Draft boards with seven consecutive games of 300+ yards and multiple touchdown passes. He's reached 3+ passing touchdowns in five of his last six, so his odds of doing so again in Week 10 are off.
Kansas State has little chance of slowing down the Mestemaker train, ranking 119th in EPA per pass and 132nd in passing explosiveness allowed over its last four games.
This prop has a discount because most teams run the ball heavily against the Wildcats' porous run defense, but the Cowboys rank 26th in pass rate and rely on Mestemaker to move the ball and score. It's in coach Eric Morris' blood to air it out.
- Matchup: Oklahoma State vs. Kansas State
- Date/Time: Saturday, Nov. 7 at 1:00 pm ET
- Location: Bill Snyder Family Stadium, Manhattan, Kan.
- TV: TNT
Prop pick #3: Cam Wallace Over 49.5 Rushing Yards
Penn State has been searching in vain for answers offensively all season. Perhaps Matt Campbell and company settled on a solution in Week 9, when reserve running back Cam Wallace handled 22 rushing attempts for 135 yards and a score.
After two years of injuries, Wallace broke out and should see a good amount of volume in Week 10 on a trip to Seattle. Washington ranks 96th in EPA per rush and 110th in rushing success rate allowed since Week 5, so it's wheels up for Wallace.
- Matchup: Penn State vs. Washington
- Date/Time: Saturday, Nov. 7 at 3:30 pm ET
- Location: Husky Stadium, Seattle, Wash.
- TV: FS1
Prop pick #4: Cole Tabb Over 60.5 Rushing Yards
Let's tab over to another running back and take Cincinnati breakout star Cole Tabb to eclipse his modest 60.5 rushing yards prop.
Tabb has been a man on a mission, racking up 422 rushing yards (140.7 average) and six touchdowns in his last three games. That puts him at 94 rushing yards per game during that span, a buy signal given the low number available on the market.
The Stanford transfer has been a marvel of efficiency, leading the FBS with 9.5 yards per attempt. He also has PFF's highest rushing grade (92.5) of any back in the country while averaging a robust 4.89 yards after contact per attempt.
Houston's defense is nothing special against the run (112th in both EPA per rush and rushing success rate since Week 5), so Tabb is in line for another successful day at the office.
- Matchup: Cincinnati vs. Houston
- Date/Time: Saturday, Nov. 7 at 3:30 pm ET
- Location: TDECU Stadium, Houston, Texas
- TV: Fox
Prop pick #5: CJ Carr Over 245.5 Passing Yards
The week's marquee matchup sees Notre Dame aim for revenge against Miami. The surest bet on the board is that future NFL starter CJ Carr will light up a moribund Hurricanes secondary.
Miami has allowed 29 receptions of 20+ yards this season, and Carr can stretch the field and hit throws that other college quarterbacks simply cannot. Can a secondary ranked 124th in EPA per pass and 125th in passing success rate over its last four games really hope to contain Carr?
His arm typically isn't needed for the Irish to win, and typically to win big. The calculus changes against a No. 1 Miami team averaging 47.6 ppg, as Notre Dame's biggest advantage comes through the air, and it'll need to throw to win.
Take this depressed number as largely a product of Carr's season-long averages against overmatched competition, not what's most likely to happen on Saturday.
- Matchup: Miami vs. Notre Dame
- Date/Time: Saturday, Nov. 7 at 7:30 pm ET
- Location: Notre Dame Stadium, Notre Dame, Ind.
- TV: NBC
- Prop picks: 36-25, +12.12 units
