Aaron Rodgers and Mike McCarthy have been fantastic on short weeks. Rodgers is 13-6 straight up and 13-5-1 against the spread in Thursday starts, while McCarthy’s Cowboys went 7-3 SU on Thursdays, including Thanksgiving.
There’s some recency here as well for Rodgers: in three Thursday starts since 2024, he’s thrown nine touchdowns and only two interceptions, with a passer rating above 100 each time.
I trust that preparation edge against Todd Monken, who’s coaching his first Thursday game as an NFL head coach. It’s also a tough turnaround for Deshaun Watson, who hasn’t played on a Thursday since 2020.
The Pittsburgh Steelers just erupted for 30 points while averaging 7.0 yards per play against Cincinnati after two spotty offensive weeks to open the season. The Cleveland Browns have won two straight, but a closer look at the box scores shows they lost the yards-per-play battle in both.

These legs are heavily correlated, which is exactly the point.
If Rodgers throws for 200 yards and multiple touchdowns, Pittsburgh’s chances of winning climb. He’s cleared both passing marks in each of his three Thursday starts since 2024.
Last Sunday offered a more immediate reason to back him: Rodgers threw for a season-high 292 yards and three touchdowns as Pittsburgh finally got its offense moving against the Bengals. I’m backing that progress to carry into Cleveland, and building the combo around the way I expect the Steelers to win.

Steelers vs Browns touchdown scorer: Roman Wilson
Cleveland has already allowed five touchdowns to the wide receiver position, and I’m expecting Rodgers to find success through the air.
Roman Wilson caught a 38-yard touchdown against Cincinnati, and has drawn six targets in every game. He and DK Metcalf each have 11 receptions, despite Wilson seeing six fewer targets. Metcalf is the obvious name, but Wilson offers a much better payout for a receiver Rodgers keeps looking for.
