My Falcons vs. Buccaneers prediction backs the underdog today, with Atlanta getting 2.5 points from Tampa Bay in a 1 p.m. ET clash at Raymond James Stadium on Sunday, Nov. 1.
With the total at 43.5, my NFL picks focus on Tampa's struggling passing attack, Atlanta's underlying matchup advantages, and weather that could influence several of my favorite betting angles in Week 8.
TOP PICK
Falcons vs Buccaneers prediction: Falcons +2.5
I'm fading the market and playing the Atlanta Falcons +2.5, playable down to their opening line of +1.5. Typically, you want to fade the previous week's results, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers just waxed the Panthers 43-13 last week.
Baker Mayfield returned Sunday from a three-game absence due to a dislocated thumb and wasn't asked to do much in Tampa's victory. He completed just seven of 11 passes for 64 yards. Mayfield has the third-worst QBR this season, so I don't trust him to win by a significant margin.
Meanwhile, Atlanta has better yards-per-play, early-down EPA per play, quarterback pressure rate, and explosive-play rate differentials, despite the teams having played similarly difficult schedules and both starting quarterbacks having missed time due to injuries.

Falcons vs Buccaneers combo
Unlike Atlanta's spread, I'm following the line movement here by taking the Under 43.5, with the total dropping from its 45.5-point opener to the current number. The projected pace, playing styles, and weather all support the Under cashing.
For instance, the Falcons rank 25th in seconds per play on offense, while Tampa Bay ranks 30th. Per Nfeloapp.com, Atlanta has the third-lowest pass rate over expectation, while the Bucs have the fifth-lowest rate.
The forecast calls for windy, rainy conditions in Tampa on Sunday, which could hinder both passing and kicking games and make these teams more likely to lean on their rushing attacks.
My third leg, Mayfield Under 224.5 passing yards, follows from the Tampa passing struggles outlined above. Our Week 8 expert combo picks have more same-game parlay ideas across the slate.
Falcons vs Buccaneers combo
- Falcons +2.5
- Under 43.5
- Baker Mayfield Under 224.5 passing yards
Falcons vs Buccaneers touchdown scorer: Kyle Pitts Sr.
I love Atlanta tight end Kyle Pitts Sr.'s anytime touchdown price, and I'd trade it up to 27%.
Pitts leads Atlanta with four touchdown catches this season, and he torched Tampa Bay in their final meeting last year, hauling in 11 catches for 166 yards and three scores.
The matchup is still favorable. The Bucs have allowed the fifth-most touchdowns to opposing tight ends with five, while the middle of their defense has struggled in coverage.
Bijan Robinson and Drake London also command plenty of attention, potentially leaving Pitts isolated against linebackers and safeties.
I'll take Pitts' athleticism in those one-on-one matchups near the goal line. For more scorer ideas, see our Week 8 anytime touchdown picks.
Falcons vs Buccaneers player prop: Baker Mayfield Under 224.5 passing yards
I think Baker Mayfield's 225+ passing yards prop is about five yards too high.
Tampa Bay head coach Todd Bowles loves to establish the run, and the weather conditions probably won't be quarterback-friendly. More importantly, Mayfield hasn't thrown for more than 217 yards in any game this season.
Finally, Atlanta's defense ranks 11th in yards per pass allowed, and the Falcons have faced quarterbacks such as Jordan Love, Brock Purdy, and Caleb Williams.
