The Eagles and Commanders clash at the bottom of the NFC East. Jason Logan doesn't buy into the standings, at least when it comes to these offenses. Here are his best Sunday Night Football picks.

The battle of the NFC East basement sees the Philadelphia Eagles visiting the Washington Commanders on Sunday Night Football.

This division has been a mess in the first two months of the schedule, but Week 8 goes a long way to defining the second half of the schedule.

My Eagles vs. Commanders predictions see SNF swinging in a different direction than the current markets would suggest, which is kind of on par with this upside-down division.

Here are my favorite NFL picks for prime time on Nov. 1.

 TOP Pick
Eagles vs Commanders prediction: Over 40.5

If you read my weekly NFL Underdogs column, you’ll see I’m taking the points with the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday Night Football.

A big reason why is this underrated offense.

Yes, Philadelphia has a backup under center and is potentially missing its top two WRs again. Yet, the Eagles have looked capable with Tanner McKee at the wheel. And with Saquon Barkley back, they went blow-for-blow with Dallas for 45 minutes on Monday until running out of ammo in the final frame.

The Washington Commanders defense doesn’t put up much of a fuss. Washington is a bottom-tier team in several key defensive measurements, including third-down conversions and red-zone defense.

Making up for the soft stop unit is an offense that should at least be able to keep its quarterback clean. Philadelphia’s once-vaunted pass rush is no more, boasting the fifth-lowest pressure rate, and that means Jayden Daniels has time in the pocket.

Daniels is now four weeks returned from his elbow injury, with a bye in Week 7, and is coming off his best performance of the season. He passed for 300 yards and 72.5% completions with two TDs in a loss to San Francisco on Oct. 19.

Covers COVERS INTEL: The Eagles don’t miss much inside the red zone. Philly was a perfect 3 for 3 in the RZ on Monday and is fourth overall in TD rate (73.7%). Washington is the worst RZ defense, lugging an opponent TD rate of 81.8%.

Eagles vs Commanders combo

There's a lot of big-name firepower missing on both sides, but I see more meat on the bone for these offenses – especially considering that the complementing stop units are both garbage.

Washington allowed Dallas Goedert to find the end zone twice in Week 1 and have given up the second most TDs to tight ends heading into Week 8. With the Eagles' receiving corps running thin, Goedert’s role spikes on SNF.

Rookie WR Antonio Williams is filling the void left by Terry McLaurin, doing plenty of damage out of the slot. He burned Philly in his NFL debut and is projected for as many as 46 receiving yards in Week 8.

Eagles vs Commanders combo

  • Over 40.5
  • Dallas Goedert touchdown
  • Antonio Williams 30+ receiving yards

Eagles vs Commanders touchdown scorer: Dallas Goedert

With DeVonta Smith and Dontayvion Wicks still hurting, tight end Dallas Goedert sees a spike in his involvement in the passing game.

Goedert drew seven targets for five receptions in Week 7 and has been McKee’s safety blanket during his two-game stint as the starter.

The Eagles face a Commanders defense that has been bullied by rival tight ends this season. Washington ranks dead last in DVOA vs. tight ends, allowing the seventh most yards to the position along with eight touchdowns to TEs in just six games.

Goedert is responsible for two of those touchdowns, with a pair of scores in the win over Washington in Week 1. His touchdown forecasts for this return matchup range from 19% to as high as 44%, with the majority at 30% or higher.
