Despite opening the season 4-1, the Philadelphia Eagles haven’t exactly looked like Super Bowl contenders.
However, that could change quickly as they head to the Meadowlands to face the struggling New York Giants in Week 6’s Thursday Night Football showdown.
After a stretch against playoff-caliber opponents, this figures to be Philly’s easiest test so far, with Saquon Barkley & Co. entering as 7.5-point favorites. The total is also one of the week’s lowest at 40.5.
Tonight's NFC East matchup sets up perfectly for Barkley to finally have a breakout game.

Eagles vs Giants prediction
Eagles vs Giants Best bet: Saquon Barkley Over 84.5 rushing yards (-114)
Much has been made of a slow start in 2025 for Saquon Barkley, and that’s very much justified as he’s only averaging 53.4 rushing yards per game.
However, he’s yet to face a rushing defense as poor as the New York Giants, which ranks 29th in yards per rush attempt allowed. That ranking for the Giants is even worse when you consider they still haven’t faced an elite running back this season.
New York could be in a lot of trouble against their former teammate, as Barkley absolutely went off against them in their lone head-to-head last season, rushing for an insane 176 yards on just 17 attempts.
Some might scoff at the motivation factor for Barkley, but I think those 176 yards are good evidence that he was eager to face his former team. There’s no reason not to expect a similar mindset, especially after coming off a loss in Week 5.
Don’t be surprised to see Barkley break a big one or two, as the Giants have already allowed five runs of 20+ yards, which is the fourth-most in the NFL entering Week 6.
It is a short week, but Barkley’s coming off a game where he only had six rush attempts. He had 18 or more in his previous four games this season, so he should be relatively fresh.
Barkley has been limited in practice this week due to general soreness, but it’s been reported that he fully expects to play.
Eagles vs Giants TNF same-game parlay
Can you tell I like Saquon and the Philadelphia Eagles to bounce back?
Yes, the Eagles have shown some cracks early on, but they’re still 4-1, and this sets up to be their lightest opponent up to this point in the season after playing a string of playoff contenders.
This is a similar spot to last season when the Eagles got off to a shaky 3-2 start then smashed the Giants 28-3 in a Week 7 game which put a dominant run in motion.
Let's round things out with a logical addition of Barkley breaking the plane to put the cherry on top of a big rushing day.
Eagles vs Giants SGP (+459)
- Saquon Barkley Over 84.5 rushing yards
- Eagles -7
- Saquon Barkley anytime touchdown
Our big-ticket SGP: Barkley breaks free
This young Giants defense has been beat for five runs of 20+ yards so far this season.
Last season, Barkley topped this mark in 13 regular season games, including a 55-yard run in that Giants game.
Eagles vs Giants SGP (+945)
- Eagles -7
- Saquon Barkley Over 84.5 rushing yards
- Saquon Barkley anytime touchdown
- Saquon Barkley longest rush Over 16.5 yards
Eagles vs Giants game predictions
Eagles vs Giants moneyline prediction
Over their last three games, the Giants are averaging a brutal 4.3 yards per play, which ties them for the second-worst mark in the NFL in this span.
Jaxson Dart is in danger of getting seriously exposed against a defense that still has elite potential.
Eagles vs Giants spread prediction
I think the Eagles will look a lot like the team that ranked second in average scoring margin last season at +10.9.
This shapes up to be their lightest opponent of the season to date, and a statement win should be a priority following their first loss of the season.
Eagles vs Giants Over/Under prediction
Four of the Giants’ five games this season have stayed Under 40 points.
Expect lots of stops from the Eagles' defense and a heavy rush attack to drain the clock, which will keep the scoring down.
Eagles vs Giants odds
- Spread: Philadelphia -7.5 (-110) | New York +7.5 (-110)
- Moneyline: Philadelphia -390 | New York +310
- Over/Under: Over 40.5 (-110) | Under 40.5 (-110)

Eagles vs Giants latest injuries
Saquon Barkley’s knee issue traces to Sunday, October 5 against Denver, when he finished the game but reported postgame knee soreness. The Eagles’ Monday report listed him DNP with a knee injury.
On Tuesday, October 7, Barkley was upgraded to limited in the walkthrough and told reporters it was “just some general soreness” and that he intended to play against his former team.
By Wednesday, Barkley was a full participant and carried no game-status designation, with the team explicitly noting he’s “good to go” for tonight.
Eagles vs Giants weather
Expected conditions at MetLife Stadium tonight are dry, clear, and chilly. After a breezy day, temperatures will drop quickly through the 50s into the mid-40s by late game, with an overnight low near 41°F.
No rain is in the picture, and visibility should be excellent under mostly clear skies. The cold, dry air can make the ball feel firmer and a bit slick, which may slightly reduce grip for receivers and ball carriers and shave a touch off kicking distance.
Any lingering breeziness in the stadium’s open bowl could introduce some late-flight wobble on longer kicks and deep sideline throws, placing a premium on timing routes and ground efficiency.
Overall, the weather favors a clean, fast surface, with the advantage going to whichever team protects the ball and manages field position best.
