The Philadelphia Eagles lock horns with the New York Giants on Thursday Night Football this week. The Eagles have won six of the last seven meetings between these NFC East rivals, and they are 7.5-point road favorites for this Week 6 clash.
That said, my Eagles vs. Giants player props are backing a couple of impressive Giants rookies on their player props.
Here are my best NFL picks for October 9.
Eagles vs Giants TNF props
Player | Pick | |
---|---|---|
Anytime Touchdown | -120 | |
Over 30.5 pass attempts | -110 | |
Over 2.5 receptions | +115 |
Jalen Hurts anytime touchdown (-120)
Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts hasn't scored a touchdown in his last two games. That said, his anytime touchdown prop is mispriced when you consider his long-term production and the New York Giants' poor defense.
Hurts is one of the most mobile quarterbacks in the league, and he rushed for 19 touchdowns during the regular season and playoffs last year. Despite not scoring in the last two weeks, the Eagles pivot has still scored a TD in 14 of his last 19 games.
Philadelphia should be able to move the ball against a Giants stop unit that ranks 26th in the league in defensive EPA. Once the Eagles get near the goal line, expect Hurts to push his way into the end zone.
Jaxson Dart Over 30.5 pass attempts (-110)
Jaxson Dart started his first NFL game in Week 3 and led New York to a 21-18 win against the Chargers. Dart threw just 20 passes in that game, but it was his NFL debut, and the Giants didn't need him to throw since they were playing with a positive game script.
Last week, he finished with a whopping 40 pass attempts in a loss to the Saints. With the Eagles in a bounce-back spot and installed as 7.5-point faves, expect a negative game script with lots of quick passes and check-downs for Dart.
In addition, the Rookie QB is dealing with a hamstring injury that could make him reluctant to take off from the pocket. That should lead to Dart eclipsing his pass attempts total of 30.5.
Cam Skattebo Over 2.5 receptions (+115)
The Giants' offense suffered a big blow in Week 4 when they lost No. 1 wide receiver Malik Nabers to a season-ending knee injury. Nabers was leading the team with 35 targets, and without the super sophomore, there are a lot of extra targets to go around.
Rookie running back Cam Skattebo benefitted from those extra looks last week, reeling in six of seven targets for 45 yards. The 2024 All-American has soft hands, and his blocking ability will keep him on the field on passing downs.
First-year quarterbacks have a tendency to rely on outlet options, and Skattebo has emerged as New York's best offensive weapon in recent weeks. While Tyrone Tracy Jr. will return from a knee injury on Thursday, Skattebo's production should give him the edge in the backfield.
The Eagles have a strong pass defense, but are vulnerable against pass-catching backs. They are 25th in the league in receiving yards allowed to RBs and 22nd in DVOA against the position.
