The Panthers are breaking in a new defensive coordinator this week, but our NFL expert believes its their offense that will be the problem against the visiting Broncos today.

My top Broncos vs. Panthers prediction expects Vance Joseph’s disruptive Denver front to relentlessly harass Bryce Young and secure the road cover.

The Broncos are 2.5-point road favorites at Bank of America Stadium against a Panthers team that just fired its defensive coordinator.

 TOP Pick
Broncos vs Panthers prediction today: Broncos -2.5

The Denver Broncos are favored on the road and have posted wins and covers the two other times that’s happened this season against the Los Angeles Chargers and Arizona Cardinals. I’d give the points now and go up to 54%.

The Carolina Panthers fired defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero after the team gave up 70 points total in losses to Tampa and Green Bay. The Panthers last played in a Thursday game, so they enjoyed extra time to adjust. It still appears they’ll be without key defensive players Jaelan Phillips, Bobby Okereke, and Will Lee III, all of whom missed practice time.

Broncos head coach Sean Payton has been a longtime thorn in the Panthers’ side. He's 19-15 against the Panthers all time and has won six of the last seven and 10 of 12 against Carolina, with many of those matchups coming when he was coaching the Saints.

Covers COVERS INTEL: The Broncos boast the league's best pass rush, according to PFF, leading in pass-rush win rate, PFF grade, pressures, QB hits, and combined sacks. Bryce Young has been sacked four times per game in Carolina’s losses, and 2.3 times in the team's wins.

Broncos vs Panthers combo

The Over has hit three times in the Panthers' seven games, and two came when the embattled defense gave up more than 40 points. Meanwhile, the Over has hit in just three of Denver's eight contests. The Broncos are 30th in the league in total yards and 25th or lower in both passing and rushing offense. Young and the Panthers opened the year hot offensively, but they've managed just 32 points in the last two games combined. The unit also didn't reach 275 yards of offense in either game.

The Panthers have trailed at the half in all four of their losses. After getting one touchdown and a total of 13 points in the first halves of their first four games, Denver has logged five touchdowns and 50 points before halftime during its previous four outings.

Broncos vs Panthers combo

  • Broncos -2.5
  • Under 44.5
  • Broncos first half -1.5

Broncos vs Panthers touchdown scorer: Bo Nix

The Panthers’ run defense may have a different look with a new coordinator, but it's likely missing at least three starters, making it hard to envision a significant improvement. Bo Nix, Jonah Coleman, and J.K. Dobbins have all posted multiple rushing scores for Denver this year.

Dobbins has seen his carries dwindle as Coleman has emerged. Nix carried the ball 10 times the past two games, three more than Dobbins. Coleman is promising but hasn’t topped 54 yards in a game yet. Look for Nix to get loose against a reeling Panthers defense at least once. He also may score by keeping it on a goal-line play.

Broncos vs Panthers player prop: Bryce Young 1+ interceptions

Bryce Young has thrown at least one interception in every Panthers loss this season and none in any of the team’s wins. He’s thrown interceptions in 11 of his 13 losses over the last two seasons, and Young has registered 33 picks in the 35 career starts the signal-caller has lost.

After throwing just two picks in his first 211 passes of the season, he’s thrown three in the previous 58. Young tends to force things when he’s trailing or running for his life, both of which could happen Sunday.
