Coming off a productive Week 5, George Kittle is set for another busy evening as he faces a favorable matchup against a Seahawks defense that tends to be vulnerable against tight ends.

Week 6 betting starts tonight in the Pacific Northwest when the Seattle Seahawks host the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday Night Football.

The primetime spotlight is never too bright for San Francisco tight end George Kittle, who tends to rise to the occasion in these standalone games. And after giving away a win last Sunday, the Niners need a big game from the “Mayor of Tight End Town”.

Read along as the superstar tight end headlines my 49ers vs. Seahawks predictions and NFL picks for October 10.

49ers vs Seahawks TNF prediction

My best bet
George Kittle Over 4.5 receptions (+116 at FanDuel)

My analysis

George Kittle is fresh from his busiest outing of the 2024 season, hauling in eight of the 12 passes his way in the Week 5 loss to Arizona.

The tight end remains a vital part of this San Francisco 49ers attack, having caught at least four balls in all four of his showings this season (missed Week 3). Kittle, who expected to play despite sore ribs, now faces a Seattle Seahawks defense allowing the ninth most receptions to TEs so far this season.

This will be the Niners’ first crack at Mike Macdonald’s defense as head coach in Seattle, but San Francisco faced Macdonald’s dynamic schemes when it played the Baltimore Ravens in Week 16 last year. The 49ers lost 33-19 (thanks to four INTs) but Kittle balled out with seven catches on 10 targets for 126 yards.

The Seahawks protect against the deeper pass with a blend of zone and man coverage, dropping safeties and giving up space underneath for intermediate passes. That’s where tight ends like Kittle operate, leading to opposing TEs having bigger days, including five catches to New York Giants tight end Theo Johnson last Sunday.

Week 6 player projections all sit north of four receptions for Kittle, with several on the other side of this 4.5 reception total and flirting with five grabs Thursday night. With the Over 4.5 paying +116, there’s value in betting on Kittle to snatch at least five passes.

49ers vs Seahawks TNF same-game parlay

George Kittle 5+ receptions

Kenneth Walker III 50+ rushing yards

Over 48.5

Although Kenneth Walker III didn’t get many carries with Seattle playing from behind last week, the Hawks running back is projected to eclipse 50 yards on the ground against a banged-up 49ers defense.

The Seahawk's defense isn’t as stout as we thought and the Niners are nowhere near their defensive prowess of past seasons, so I expect a high-scoring affair at Lumen Field.
