Expert NFL combo picks for Week 3
Chiefs vs. Dolphins: 6.00x
With the Dolphins likely in catch-up mode from the jump, expect Malik Willis to go over his passing total for the third straight week.
On the other side, is Travis Kelce all the way back in this potent Chiefs offense? If last week was any indication, he is.
Miami has also struggled against tight ends — George Kittle posted 80 yards and a touchdown just last week — putting Kelce in position for another solid game.

Panthers vs. Browns: 7.69x
The total has climbed by a point this week, but the Over still looks playable. No one has slowed Young and the Panthers' offense, while Cleveland should find early success on the ground.
Watson may have a tougher time against Carolina's veteran defense. The Browns are starting two rookies on the offensive line and feature two rookie receivers, while Jaelan Phillips has recorded a sack in each game.
With Jaycee Horn and Michael Jackson covering KC Concepcion and Denzel Boston, Watson could be forced into quick decisions and a costly turnover under pressure.

Titans vs. Giants: 6.00x
I’m looking to fade Winston in the tough conditions.
In addition to the case against New York's offense, I was impressed by Tennessee's defensive performance in Week 2 against a superior Philadelphia Eagles attack. The Titans ranked above average for the week in both dropback and rushing success rates allowed.
This matchup is a bad recipe for Winston after he posted a disastrous 44.0 adjusted completion percentage while averaging just 4.1 yards per attempt in relief last week.

Patriots vs. Jaguars: 15.66x
The Jaguars present a tough two-way challenge for New England, especially with the Patriots missing pieces of their pass protection. Jacksonville will create chaos in the pocket and force Drake Maye into crucial mistakes.
Trevor Lawrence’s legs haven’t been too busy to start the season, but under Liam Coen’s offense, he was the third most active QB in red zone runs last season, scoring nine rushing touchdowns.
The Patriots will need to run the ball to control possession and keep the heat off Maye. TreVeyon Henderson stepped up in his season debut and ran hard. He’ll get a good snap share in Week 3 with projections as high as 57 rushing yards.

Chargers vs. Bills: 3.60x
The Bills grade 23rd in PFF run defense, and I’m expecting the Bolts to lean on running back Omarion Hampton early and often in an attempt to keep the clock churning and Bills superstar Josh Allen watching from the sideline.
Hampton has also rushed for 3.2 yards after contact per attempt with a high-end 103.8 PFF Elusive Rating while handling 66% of the team’s carries.
The go-to rusher has scored in consecutive games, too, and Buffalo has surrendered four touchdowns to opposing running backs already.

Jets vs. Lions: 5.40x
The Jets are struggling to put up points, but their defense has shown up big to start the season, allowing only 15.0 ppg. The Lions will be New York's toughest test yet, but the Jets' defensive EPA per play of -0.21 suggests they'll be a tough nut to crack regardless of how explosive the opponent is. I'm backing the Under at a generous total of 48.5 points.
Still, the lion's share of the points should come from Detroit. Jared Goff has already thrown for six touchdowns without an interception this season, and he'll find Amon-Ra St. Brown and Sam LaPorta plenty on Sunday. I like Goff to throw for at least two scores to round out our combo.

Texans vs. Colts: 8.00x
The Texans have no business losing this game - they're better than the Colts in all three facets, and if they can limit the impact of Colts running back Jonathan Taylor, the offense should be able to handle the worst defense in football.
With that in mind, I'm backing Stroud and Montgomery, who are 3-1 overall against these respective numbers.

Seahawks vs. Commanders: 5.75x
Look for Seattle’s smothering defense to lead the charge this weekend, cashing in on the soft center of Washington’s O-line and benefiting from more snaps for a healthier Nick Emmanwori. A steady diet of Mariota scrambles certainly strengthens the case for the Under, as does the light rain that's forecasted.
Five of the Seahawks’ last six regular season games have fallen short of this 40.5 total, and it’s fair to expect a cautious start from Darnold if he gets the start at Northwest Stadium. The Commanders have also held up well enough against the run this year to suggest they can at least slow down the visitors' ground game.
I'll round out this combo with a Mariota interception, as I expect him to be dealing with collapsing pockets all afternoon. He tossed seven picks last season while stepping in for Daniels, and the Seattle secondary has logged 1+ INT in six of its past seven outings.

Bengals vs. Steelers: 5.70x
Cincy wide receiver Tee Higgins turned his 10 targets into five receptions for 95 yards last week, and his 19.3 yards per reception and 15.7 aDoT to start the season have my attention.
With Pittsburgh set to have its hands full with Cincy star wideout Ja'Marr Chase, Higgins stands to see softer coverage in Week 3, too.
Of course, Higgins has also scored double-digit touchdowns in consecutive years, and No. 3 wide receiver Andrei Iosivas (thumb) is also out of the lineup.

Cardinals vs. 49ers: 9.12x
I'm mixing Arizona's +4.5 first-half spread into my combo even though I lean toward the Niners covering their full-game spread.
The Cardinals led at halftime of their 26-14 Week 1 win over the Los Angeles Chargers, and were tied at halftime in their 31-7 loss to the Seattle Seahawks last week.
San Francisco averages 7.0 more points per game in the second half (19.0-12.0) and wears teams down with its ground game, as the 49ers are sixth in rushing rate. My game script is a slow-paced battle without back-breaking turnovers, with the Niners pulling away late.
Finally, McCaffrey is one of the best receiving running backs in league history. He's fresh off his third season of 100+ receptions, and already has nine grabs this season.

Vikings vs. Buccaneers 10.84x
The Buccaneers are in a great spot to right the ship against a leaky Minnesota defense and a quarterback making his first start off a concussion. And if the Bucs are scoring, you better believe Bucky Irving is going to play a part.
Irving is getting 75% of the carries inside the 20 and continues to be the workhorse, totaling 36 touches across the first two weeks of the season.

Raiders vs. Saints: 6.72x
I'm using NOLA's moneyline instead of the full-game spread in my combo because I prefer to increase the win probability over the payout. If I used Saints -3.5, the combo would pay 6.83x, but the extra payout isn't enough to make me give up the protection of New Orleans winning by one to three points.
The bottom line: This total is just too low for a game between two defenses I don't think will be good this season. I'm getting a good price for the Over when it should be at least 46.5 because three of their games have combined for 41 or fewer points.

Ravens vs. Cowboys: 10.89x
The Ravens’ rushing ability can stick this game in the mud. Not only can Baltimore bully this bad Dallas defense on the ground, but it chews up TOP and takes pressure off Lamar Jackson, who’s playing behind a shaky offensive line.
Jackson will do his part on the ground, rushing for 40+ yards. The Cowboys have allowed the most rushing yards to rival quarterbacks through two weeks, and injuries on defense open up soft spots for Jackson to exploit.
When the Ravens enter the red zone, Jackson will lean on his old reliable. Mark Andrews is still a big piece of this passing game, and the Cowboys have already had issues with rival tight ends, giving up two touchdowns to the position.

Rams vs. Broncos: 15.42x
Not only do we have two of the league's better defenses in a possible Super Bowl preview, but these offenses could be limited in their ability to push the ball beyond the sticks. Los Angeles will lean on a dominant ground game with injuries at receiver, and Denver needs to keep plays quick and short to protect Nix from the L.A. pass rush.
Corum is getting more and more love from McVay, and while he hasn’t received a red-zone carry, his snap share is about even with Williams. Given the Broncos' issues stopping the run, Corum cracks the end zone on Sunday night.
Matthew Stafford may not need to do much if L.A. can establish the run. He faces a stingy Denver secondary without a healthy group of receiving options, as his wide receivers and tight ends are battling injuries in Week 3. I have him projected for fewer than 240 passing yards.
