The Eagles and Patriots aren't putting too much weight into their Week 2 preseason contest but we've watched the market move toward the visitor and Jason Logan points to issues on New England's O-line.

The Philadelphia Eagles and New England Patriots are keeping things close to the vest this summer, including their plans for a Week 2 preseason clash Saturday.

A week of joint practices has coaches Mike Vrabel and Nick Sirianni not only being coy about how much their starters will play (don’t hold your breath) but also dumbing down their playbook as to not tip their hands for the regular season.

I know, not the most exciting approach. That mystery has kept this spread around a pick’em with Philadelphia moving from a slight road dog to a -1.5 favorite.

At least we’ve got some NFL picks to spice up this exhibition tilt. Here are my best Eagles vs. Patriots predictions for August 22.

 TOP PICK

Who will win Eagles vs Patriots: Eagles -1.5

Kalshi probability: 48%

The Philadelphia Eagles still have to sort out their top backup quarterback, a positional race which includes veteran arm Andy Dalton.

He got the start in Week 1’s loss to Baltimore, dropping back only six times and completing three passes for 20 yards. Tanner McKee wasn’t much better, which makes Saturday’s trip to New England a proving ground for these QBs.

The New England Patriots passed 35 times in their 13-13 draw with Indianapolis in the preseason opener but took casualties on the offensive line. That leaves New England scrambling to replace that depth with rookie OLs ahead of this Week 2 exhibition game.

The Eagles defense was able to record three sacks against the Ravens along with two takeaways. That kind of chaos is enough to sway me to tail the line movement toward Philadelphia.

Eagles vs Patriots Over/Under pick: Under 36.5

Kalshi probability: 51%

The Eagles aren’t marching the first teams out there anytime soon, even after a dud of an effort in the preseason opener.

In its first run-through under new offensive coordinator Sean Mannion, Philly floundered in a one-sided loss to Baltimore. It finished 0-for-9 on third down conversions, averaged 4.0 yards per play, and held on to the ball for less than 19 minutes.

If reps out of joint practices are any indication, the Eagles could have issues moving the chains again Saturday.

New England’s defense looked strong in the second practice together, specifically clamping down on big plays. And if the Pats makeshift offensive line can’t protect their passers, yards – and points – will be a premium.
