Texas A&M vs Notre Dame best bet: Jeremiyah Love Over 76.5 rushing yards (-114)
Notre Dame did not trust its offensive line at Miami in Week 1, and at first, that was quite the surprise.
The Irish entered the season with what was heralded, including by yours truly, as possibly the best offensive line in the country. With a first-time starter at quarterback who had never thrown a collegiate pass, why would Notre Dame go to the air and not hand off the ball to supposed Heisman candidate Jeremiyah Love?
By the end of that 27-24 loss at Miami, it was clear. The Irish coaching staff knew its offensive line would not win against the Hurricanes’ defensive line; instead of hearing that as a criticism of Notre Dame’s offensive line, hear it as praise of Miami’s defensive front.
Texas A&M lacks that same stout front. The Aggies have given up successful rushing days to both UTSA and Utah State.
The Roadrunners should not be averaging 0.20 expected points added (EPA) per rush attempt against an SEC Playoff hopeful. Utah State managing 0.07 EPA per rush sounds dismal, but that being above zero at all should be a concern for A&M head coach Mike Elko.
Do not overreact to Notre Dame’s playcalling in Week 1. It was a credit to Miami.
Capitalize on this deflated number this weekend.
Texas A&M vs Notre Dame same-game parlay
Notre Dame's defense was never the problem in its season-opening loss to Miami, holding the Hurricanes to 0.01 expected points added per play. Texas A&M's offense is nowhere near as intriguing as Miami's.
Until this game gets wonky in the second half, look for Irish head coach Marcus Freeman to play at least one unexpected card on special teams in a game of this magnitude, while Notre Dame’s run game and defense set all the terms.
