Texas is stumbling, and Ole Miss is ready to pounce. We're taking the points with the Rebels in our Week 8 ATS picks.

My Week 8 college football against-the-spread picks are fading a Texas team in free fall, with Ole Miss looking poised to take advantage of the Longhorns' recent struggles.

Elsewhere, I'm backing Alabama to bounce back against Texas A&M and BYU to handle business against UCF. Those are just two of the seven college football picks I'm targeting on this week's slate.

Expert Week 8 CFB ATS picks

Indiana (-6.5) vs. Michigan: Indiana Indiana -6.5

Indiana has never lost back-to-back games under Curt Cignetti, and despite last week's result, the Hoosiers are still in a different tier relative to Michigan. The Wolverines are in a bit of a quarterback pickle after Tommy Carr came in for Bryce Underwood and finished out the win against Penn State, but neither will find much success against one of the best defenses in the country.

BYU (-6.5) vs. UCF: BYU BYU -6.5

I'm not super worried about a BYU letdown in this matchup. This is a UCF team coming off back-to-back double-digit losses with an offense that ranks 82nd in yards per carry, 111th in yards per attempt, and 84th in scoring. That won't fly against a BYU defense allowing just 3.3 yards per carry (24th) and 5.7 yards per attempt (7th). Lay the number at anything below -7.

Tennessee vs. South Carolina (-2.5): Tennessee Tennessee +2.5

Tennessee's defense is one of the most underrated units in the country right now. The Vols have allowed 14 points per game over their last five games, including holding Alabama to 10 on Saturday, and rank top 15 in scoring defense and opponent yards per play. Before beating Florida, South Carolina lost three straight and gave up an average of 41.6 points per game in those losses. Take the points with Tennessee.

Texas A&M vs. Alabama (-13.5): Alabama Alabama -13.5

The state of Texas A&M's offense, particularly on the road, makes this an easy choice. The Aggies have scored just 12 points over their last two road games, rank 125th in yards per play and 128th in yards per attempt. On the flip side, Alabama is 25th in yards per play and 15th in yards per attempt. Back home, this is a golden bounce-back spot for the Crimson Tide after back-to-back losses.

Ole Miss vs. Texas (-3.5): Mississippi Ole Miss +3.5

Ole Miss has returned to top form since its early-October bye week. Meanwhile, Texas has lost back-to-back games against teams not as good as Ole Miss, and Arch Manning concerns now have the entire program in flux at a bad time. I expect a bit of a shootout, and that plays into the hands of the Rebels, who rank 10th in scoring offense and 20th in yards per play.  This Longhorns offense (89th in yards per play) won't be able to keep pace.

USC (-2.5) vs. Wisconsin: USC USC -2.5

USC is far from a stout defense, but holding Washington and Penn State to 21 and 23 apiece is a winning formula against most of the Big Ten when your offense is top 15 in scoring offense, total offense, and yards per play. The Badgers are no better than those opponents offensively (61st in yards per play, 68th in scoring), and while USC's level almost always drops on the road, this Trojans offense is still the unit I trust the most.

Houston vs. Utah (-6.5): Utah Utah -6.5

On the road and at altitude, Houston's passing defense, which ranks 99th in yards per attempt and 130th in yards per game, will be treading water against Devon Dampier and this Utah offense (31+ points in five of six games). Meanwhile, the Cougars won't have the same luck with the ball against a Utes defense that ranks eighth in scoring defense and has given up 20 points just twice.
