Prop pick #1: Nathan MacKinnon Over 3.5 shots on goal

Novig probability: 53%

Play up to 57%.

Nathan MacKinnon is one of the league's highest-volume shooters, and I'm eyeing him to keep that up tonight. The Colorado Avalanche star has cashed the Over in three of his last four appearances, and MacKinnon is averaging 4.4 shots on target per night.

The veteran leads the Avs by a long shot in total shot attempts (83) and unblocked shot attempts (63). In fact, over his last three contests, MacKinnon has an impressive 15 SOG.

For what it's worth, he also fired 11 pucks on net in two meetings with the Tampa Bay Lightning last season.

  • Matchup: Lightning vs Avalanche
  • Time: 9 p.m. ET
  • Location: Ball Arena, Denver, CO
  • TV: ESPN+

Prop pick #2: Juraj Slafkovsky Over 0.5 assists

Novig probability: 45%

Play up to 50%.

Juraj Slafkovsky is creating at a high level right now. He's notched three helpers in his last two games and has cashed the Over in three of his previous four contests.

Four of his five helpers have been primary assists, highlighting just how involved he's been in the offense. Nick Suzuki is facing a multi-week absence, and that will likely see Slafkovsky get even more opportunities to facilitate on the top line and PP1 without Montreal's top playmaker.

The Habs take on the Blackhawks tonight, who are 30th in goals allowed. Expect Slafkovsky to step up in a playmaking role.

  • Matchup: Canadiens vs Blackhawks
  • Time: 8 p.m. ET
  • Location: United Center, Chicago, IL
  • TV: NHL Network

Goal scorer pick: Nikita Kucherov

Novig probability: 37%

Play up to 42%.

Nikita Kucherov has just four goals this season for the Bolts, but he's turned it up a notch lately. The veteran has potted three in his last two contests, and the opportunities are certainly there. Kucherov has fired 15 SOG in his previous three appearances.

He sits top-five on Tampa in individual scoring chances, and Kucherov has had no issues getting pucks on target. The Avalanche aren't an easy matchup, but Kucherov did light the lamp once against them last season in two meetings.

He'll keep a hot hand tonight.
