Jets vs Rangers Prediction, Picks & Odds for Tonight’s NHL Game

Connor Hellebuyck and Igor Shesterkin remain the best netminders in the game, and both will look sharp tonight — especially in the first period.

The Winnipeg Jets have surrendered the fewest goals per game, and the New York Rangers have allowed the second fewest, so it's no wonder they’re both piling up wins and generating Stanley Cup buzz as we approach the quarter mark.

Madison Square Gardens will play host to two scorching hot teams on Tuesday, November 11, and my Jets vs. Rangers predictions expect it to be a conservative start for both.

My Jets pick
Under 1.5 first-period goals (+107 at Pinnacle)

My Jets analysis
In addition to ranking first and second in goals against per game, the Winnipeg Jets and New York Rangers have also been stingy in the opening period all season. Winnipeg has allowed 10 first-period goals across 15 games, and New York has surrendered nine over 13.

With both clubs rested and off since Saturday, I expect both head coaches to have their teams paying particularly close attention to defensive detail to start tonight's showdown.

The Jets have surrendered just 1.9 goals per 60 at 5-on-5 and sport a respectable 82.4 penalty-kill percentage, while the Rangers have allowed just 2.04 goals per 60 while pacing the league with a 91.1 PK%. Winnipeg has also taken the sixth-fewest minor penalties at 5-on-5 to mitigate its middling PK.

Of course, the two starting goalies are favorites in the Vezina Trophy odds, and both Jets No. 1 Connor Hellebuyck and Rangers starter Igor Shesterkin are in elite form with Top 5 ranks in save percentage and goals saved above average per 60 minutes among regular starters.

Jets vs Rangers Over/Under analysis

With Winnipeg sporting a 14-1 record, it isn’t surprising to see a move to the Jets side of this moneyline at Pinnacle. The shop opened New York at -126 and has the Rangers priced at -115 as of this morning.

The move to the Over 6.0 is far more interesting. As noted, Winnipeg and New York have been the two best defensive teams in the league and have received elite goaltending.

Still, there are some underlying shortcomings, with both the Jets and Rangers below the break-even mark in Corsi For percentage and respectively ranking 22nd and 16th in expected goals percentage.
