The Florida Panthers (68%) are one of the league's best defensive teams, ranking third in shot suppression and eighth in goals against.
Well-rested against a struggling offense, my Jets vs. Panthers prediction has Florida putting the clamps down in a relatively low-scoring game.
Let's dive deeper into my NHL picks for Friday, Oct. 30.
TOP PICK
Jets vs Panthers prediction: Under 6.5
I like the Under to 58%.
The Winnipeg Jets are about as stale as it gets offensively. They have virtually no depth scoring, ranking 29th in goals per game, with only three forwards on pace for more than 40 points.
They've scored two goals or fewer in five of their last six games, and it's hard to imagine things improving on the second half of a back-to-back against the league's best team at limiting expected goals during 5-on-5 play.
We generally don't see high-event hockey from the Florida Panthers, who sit 30th in pace, and there's little reason to ramp things up against a struggling offense they should have no trouble smothering.

Jets vs Panthers combo
Sam Bennett has faced two Bottom-12 shot-suppression teams at home this season, generating 10 shots on 15 attempts across those games.
Florida is coming off two days of rest, while Winnipeg is playing the second half of a back-to-back without star defenseman Josh Morrissey. It's a tough spot for the Jets to get a result.
Dawson Mercer has recorded multiple shots on goal in two of his three games with his new team. His best shooting performance came last night on a line with Kyle Connor and Viggo Bjorck, a combination expected to remain intact tonight.
Jets vs Panthers combo
- Sam Bennett Over 2.5 shots
- Florida Panthers moneyline
- Dawson Mercer Over 1.5 shots
Jets vs Panthers player prop: Sam Bennett Over 2.5 shots
I’m on Bennett for 3 shots to 52%.
He didn't have a strong start to the season, generating 5.29 shots on goal per 60 minutes of 5-on-5 play over his first five games.
Paul Maurice then moved Bennett onto a line with the Tkachuk brothers, and it's been a much different story since.
His shot rate has soared to 10.49 shots on goal per 60 over the past eight games, nearly doubling his early-season rate.
He's in a good spot to keep firing pucks, as the Jets rank 24th in shot suppression and are playing the second half of a road back-to-back.
Jets vs Panthers goal scorer: Sam Bennett
Play to 32%.
Since joining the Tkachuk brothers on a line, Bennett has generated expected goals at a 30-goal pace over 84 games.
Better results are ahead for Bennett, and a matchup against a weak, shallow Jets team playing at a significant rest disadvantage presents a great opportunity to turn things around.
