Bowling Green vs Central Michigan Predictions, Picks, and Best Bets: Points Aplenty

Bowling Green and Connor Bazelak should keep right on rolling vs. Central Michigan's suspect defense, but the Chippewas should be able to keep up on the other side of the ball.

My analysis

Tuesday night MACtion action returns! I have missed these Tuesday night matchups, and we have a potentially high-scoring one when the Bowling Green Falcons meet the Central Michigan Chippewas.

Bowling Green quarterback Connor Bazelak has been tough to slow. He’s slung it 1,815 passing yards with 10 scoring strikes and just four interceptions. Tight end Harold Fannin Jr. is close to 1,000 receiving yards, and Bazelak has five Falcons with 100+ receiving yards.

Bazelak and the Bowling Green passing offense should eat against a Central Michigan secondary allowing 209 passing yards per game and 15 passing TDs. The Chippewas' rushing defense allows the second-most rushing yards per game (185.5) and 13 rushing TDs.

Central Michigan can also score the football.

The Chippewas offense averages a fifth-best 27 points per clash. QB Joe Labas has been ruled out for this one, but frosh signal-caller Tyler Jefferson is a dual-threat QB with 280 passing yards and an additional 168 rushing yards on 38 carries.

Jefferson and the Chips are up against a Falcons defense they can beat on the ground. CMU boasts the fourth-best rushing offense in the MAC, with 184 rushing yards per game with six Chips over 100+ rushing yards.

I expect both offenses to come alive. Bazelak and the Falcons will launch an aerial assault CMU will struggle against, but the Bowling Green defense will also struggle against Jefferson and the Chips’ robust ground attack.

We’ll see a nice, back-and-forth MACtion action contest with a total ending Over the number.

Bowling Green vs Central Michigan same-game parlay (SGP)

Over 49

Bowling Green team total Over 30.5

Central Michigan team total Over 20.5

Both groups are Top 5 scoring teams in the conference and will each fuel the Over.

Bowling Green has cleared its 27-point average in four of their last five. The Falcons' passing and rushing combo will be too much, and they will find the end zone Tuesday against a CMU stop unit that’s already allowed 28 TDs this season.

CMU has outscored its 27 ppg average twice across their last five. The Chips will look to pound the football, and Jefferson has had more than a week to get his reps in. They meet a Falcons defense that’s surrendered 21+ twice in their last five.
