There’s every reason to think the Oklahoma City Thunder and San Antonio Spurs will be locked in a cage match at the top of the West for years to come, and we’ll see the latest instalment of this budding rivalry tonight.
With plenty of talent on display tonight, my Spurs vs. Thunder predictions expect Victor Wembanyama to carry the load offensively for the visitors.

Spurs vs Thunder prediction
Spurs vs Thunder best bet: Victor Wembanyama Over 21.5 points (+100)
With Victory Wembanyama back in the San Antonio Spurs’ starting lineup, anything feels possible. San Antonio has taken a cautious approach since his return from injury, but little by little, the visitors are unleashing their unicorn big man again.
Wembanyama poured in 29 points on Sunday against the Minnesota Timberwolves, including 10 free throws, and he’s gone past this O/U number in five of his past seven outings, despite largely coming off the bench. Where else would I look for my best bet?
Wemby’s battle with Chet Holmgren is the game within the game here, and there are signs that the French phenom is ready to take on a bigger share of the offense. He’s averaging 17.5 FGA per game so far in January, and there’s still room for that volume to grow.
Perhaps the biggest surprise in San Antonio’s last two victories over the Oklahoma City Thunder was Wembanyama’s underwhelming numbers. On those occasions, it was the Spurs’ backcourt that did the damage, but I’m wagering on Wemby to have his fingerprints all over tonight’s titanic clash.
Count on the Thunder’s ball-hawking guards to do a better job against De’Aaron Fox and Stephon Castle here, nudging the visitors towards more touches for Wemby, and a fast start could make this Over a breeze.

Spurs vs Thunder same-game parlay
This young Spurs squad isn’t afraid of the Thunder, and this line comes as a surprise given San Antonio’s 3-0 mark in the teams’ head-to-head battles. The onus is on OKC to make a statement tonight, but the hosts are just 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games (and 0-5 ATS in their past five). In contrast, the Spurs have covered the spread in five of their past seven contests.
Stephon Castle has been a steady force on the glass, and I’ll take the Over on his rebounds tally as the final leg of my SGP. He’s finished with 5+ boards in five of his past six outings, and he’s averaging 5.7 RPG so far this month.
Spurs vs Thunder SGP
- Victor Wembanyama Over 21.5 points
- Spurs +9
- Stephon Castle Over 4.5 rebounds
Our "from downtown" SGP: It's a big man's game
Holmgren will spend some possessions tracking Wemby on the perimeter, but I still see enough opportunities for him to nail this prop. He’s put together a nice stretch, with double-digit rebounds in four of his last six games, and the Thunder will need his activity in the paint with Isaiah Hartenstein still sidelined.
Spurs vs Thunder SGP

- Stephon Castle Over 4.5 rebounds
- Chet Holmgren Over 9.5 rebounds
