The Cleveland Cavaliers head into tonight's clash with the Milwaukee Bucks as an 8.5-point road favorite, with tip-off from Fiserv Forum scheduled for 8 p.m. ET.

Rather than taking a side, my Cavaliers vs Bucks predictions will focus on a lower-scoring matchup in Milwaukee.

Read more in my NBA picks for Saturday, Oct. 31.

 TOP PICK
Cavaliers vs Bucks prediction: Under 237.5

Play up to 55%.

I'm leaning Under 237.5 because the Milwaukee Bucks' quick tempo hasn't translated into efficient offense. Milwaukee ranks second in pace but just 24th in offensive rating, averaging 113.4 PPG despite getting plenty of possessions.

The Cleveland Cavaliers aren't an elite defensive team, but they're much more reliable on that end than Milwaukee, and I expect them to disrupt the Bucks' rhythm. Cleveland should still score its fair share against a Bucks defense ranked 27th in defensive rating, but Milwaukee needs to carry its weight for this total to clear.

The Cavaliers' last two games have finished with 252 and 225 points, while Milwaukee's produced 212 and 232. Three of those four games stayed below tonight's total, and I expect another Under.

Covers COVERS INTEL: Milwaukee ranks 21st in offensive free-throw rate (25.2%), while Cleveland ranks seventh in limiting opponents' free-throw attempts relative to field-goal attempts (24.5%). That could make it harder for the Bucks to generate easy points at the line.

Cavaliers vs Bucks combo

While I expect a controlled matchup, I also don't see any issues with the Cavaliers winning outright. The Bucks haven't shown much promise, going just 1-4 and losing by 32 points to the Rockets on Wednesday night. They will have a difficult time containing Cleveland's imposing frontcourt and productive backcourt duo.

I'm eyeing James Harden to find a rhythm from long range. Milwaukee has defended the three relatively well, but they're allowing nearly three triples per night to opposing point guards, and Harden has cashed the Over in two of his last three. He's also attempted at least eight treys in three straight contests.

Cavaliers vs Bucks combo

  • Under 237.5
  • Cavs moneyline
  • James Harden Over 2.5 threes

Cavaliers vs Bucks player props

Cavaliers player prop: Evan Mobley Over 1.5 threes

Play up to 48%.

Evan Mobley has shot the three incredibly well this season, draining 57.1% of his attempts. He's averaging 2.4 makes on 4.2 attempts per contest, and the big man has cleared this line in three of five appearances so far.

The Bucks are allowing 2.1 triples per contest to opposing power forwards, and they've surrendered a 37.7% three-point clip over their last three games.

Milwaukee is also 23rd in the league with a 43.9% opponent three-point attempt rate. Opponents are taking nearly half of their shots from downtown against them, which only improves Mobley's chances of hitting two or more tonight.

Bucks player prop: Tyler Herro Over 19.5 points

Play up to 65%.

I know the price isn't ideal here, but Tyler Herro has been balling out for the Bucks. With a top role, the guard leads the team with a 27.9% usage rate and 23.4 PPG. Herro has hit the Over in points in four of his five outings this season.

He's finished with 23 in back-to-back contests, and the veteran has at least 13 field goal attempts in every single game so far.

The Cavs have been getting cooked by opposing shooting guards, allowing 27.9 PPG to the position. With that perimeter vulnerability and Herro's hot hand, he won't have a problem surpassing 20 points tonight.
