The Philadelphia 76ers travel to Spectrum Center to face the Charlotte Hornets on Saturday, Oct. 31.
Both teams are playing the second legs of back-to-back sets, and my 76ers vs. Hornets prediction expects load management to factor heavily into a low-scoring affair between two already-stout defensive units.
My NBA picks back the Under and a Hornets victory as slight underdogs. I’m also picking VJ Edgecombe and Brandon Miller to stuff the stat sheet in this Halloween showdown at 6 p.m. ET on NBA TV.
TOP PICK
76ers vs Hornets prediction: Under 215.5
I’m not counting on much offense tonight, and I’ll trade this total down to 212.5.
A fully healthy Philadelphia 76ers team has hit the game total Under in five of six games this season, averaging the fifth-fewest points in the Association at just 108.7 per tilt.
Buckets may be even more challenging on the second leg of a back-to-back, with LeBron James and Joel Embiid out and Jaylen Brown questionable.
The Charlotte Hornets’ offense has struggled, too. At just 97.3 points per game, Charlotte is the only team not scoring 100+ nightly.
With struggling offenses, both teams have relied on elite defense. Philly ranks third with a 103.3 defensive rating, and Charlotte ranks seventh at 108.

76ers vs Hornets combo
Both teams are playing the second legs of back-to-back sets, but that benefits the young Hornets more than a Sixers team featuring the oldest player in the league and an injury-prone big man.
Charlotte leads the league with 45.3 3-point attempts per game, and a strong night on the glass from Naz Reid and Moussa Diabate should lead to second-chance opportunities for the home team. I’ll back the Hornets straight up.
Reid has made the most of his new opportunities in Charlotte, shining as a scorer and rebounder. Not counting Wednesday’s game, in which he was benched (after grabbing six rebounds in the first half) for “failing to meet team standards,” Reid has averaged 9.8 rebounds and 31 minutes across five contests.
Philadelphia allows the most rebounds per game at 51.2, and with key 76ers rebounders banged up, Reid will feast on the glass.
76ers vs Hornets combo
- Under 215.5
- Hornets moneyline
- Naz Reid Over 9.5 rebounds
76ers vs Hornets player props
76ers player prop: VJ Edgecombe Over 29.5 points + rebounds + assists
I love the value at 47%, as VJ Edgecombe should see a sharp spike in production tonight. Edgecombe is the team’s second-leading rebounder at 7.8 per tilt. Embiid (9.4) and James (7.0) rank first and third, and their absences should mean an uptick for the second-year man.
Edgecombe averaged 16 ppg as a rookie, but his scoring has fallen to just 11.6 with James and Brown joining the roster. His usage rate has fallen from 20.1 to 16.8, and his assists have dropped from 4.2 to 2.6.
Roster construction — not talent — is keeping Edgecombe’s counting stats low. In his first season, he averaged 25 PRA, and he can fill up the stat sheet when needed.
Hornets player prop: Brandon Miller Over 34.5 points + rebounds + assists
Miller has cleared 35 PRA three times in his last four games, and I'll trade this line up to 36.5.
With LaMelo Ball gone and Kon Knueppel and Coby White sidelined, Miller has taken on a heavy workload as a scorer and ball-handler this season. He’s been effective as a rebounder and facilitator, too.
Miller’s 34.4 usage rate is the highest of his career and ranks fourth in the Association, showcasing how much responsibility he has in 2026-27.
Miller totaled just 30 PRA across his first two games of the season, but since then, he's been on fire. He's averaged 30.8 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 2.8 assists in his last four games, good for 41.9 PRA.
