Expert NBA ATS picks: Oct. 31

Trail Blazers vs Jazz: Trail Blazers Trail Blazers -5.5

The Portland Trail Blazers are without Ja Morant, but they've been impressive offensively, and they should be able to take advantage of a depleted Utah Jazz frontcourt. Utah has also lost three straight, and the Blazers have covered this number in all of their wins.

76ers vs Hornets: 76ers 76ers -1.5

This is a very small spread considering the gap between these two teams, and I don't see the Philadelphia 76ers having any issues covering. Jaylen Brown missed Friday's game, but LeBron James, VJ Edgecombe, and Tyrese Maxey are all healthy for the league's third-ranked defense. Meanwhile, the Charlotte Hornets rank dead last in offensive rating and scored only 79 points in their last game.

Hawks vs Pelicans: Pelicans Pelicans +4.5

The New Orleans Pelicans just notched their first win, and they have one specific avenue to exploit today. The Atlanta Hawks have allowed opponents to shoot nearly 60% on 2-pointers, and they're 27th in points allowed in the paint. The Pels are fantastic at getting downhill, ranking first in points in the paint. NOLA is worth a look at +4.5.

Kings vs Grizzlies: Grizzlies Grizzlies -10.5

This is a large spread, but it's warranted. The Sacramento Kings are 0-5 and have lost by an average of 16.6 points. The Memphis Grizzlies covered this number against the Kings on Oct. 25, and they're top five in offensive and defensive rating. Sacramento is 28th in both categories.

Cavaliers vs Bucks: BucksBucks +9.5

The Cleveland Cavaliers shouldn't have any issues winning, but asking them to cover a double-digit spread on the road is too much for my liking. They're 1-4 ATS and have only covered this spread once in three victories. The Milwaukee Bucks will keep this within 10 points, at the very least.

Timberwolves vs Spurs: Timberwolves Timberwolves +11.5

The Minnesota Timberwolves are without Anthony Edwards, but that's not enough to justify this large of a spread. Yes, the San Antonio Spurs are a force, but Minny still has enough firepower to make this a competitive game. LaMelo Ball dropped 24 points in a huge 127-101 win over the Clippers on Friday, and the Wolves have the second-best defense in the Association.

Thunder vs Rockets: RocketsRockets -4.5

The Oklahoma City Thunder are rarely an underdog, but that's the case tonight. Chet Holmgren is expected to miss around two months, leaving the Thunder without another key player after the Jalen Williams injury. Alex Caruso and Cason Wallace are also out. The Houston Rockets have been playing well, and their depth should make the difference.
