The New York Yankees and Detroit Tigers begin a three-game set at Comerica Park today, and I’ve got a pair of MLB picks for the series opener.

My top Yankees vs. Tigers predictions are calling for New York to eke out a low-scoring win in Game 1 tonight.

Who will win Yankees vs Tigers today: Yankees moneyline (-121)

The New York Yankees have found a groove despite missing star Aaron Judge (ribs) and have won nine of their last 13 games while averaging 5.5 runs per game and ranking ninth in wOBA and sixth in xwOBA.

They’re also second in wOBA for the season against lefties, and Detroit Tigers southpaw Framber Valdez’s 4.47 xERA ranks in the 35th percentile.

Additionally, New York righty Gerrit Cole has allowed two runs or fewer in four of five starts while holding opposing hitters to a pedestrian 30.7% squared-up contact rate and 10.2% blast contact rate.

So, with the Tigers ranking 22nd in xwOBA with the 10th-highest strikeout rate across the past 30 days, I’m confident Cole can hold the Detroit lineup in check enough for a road win at Comerica tonight.

Yankees moneyline is the play down to -135.

Covers COVERS INTEL: Gerrit Cole has held opposing hitters to a .288 xwOBAcon to rank in the 97th percentile of pitchers this season, which paves the way for the Yankees moneyline and the Under.

Yankees vs Tigers Over/Under pick: Under 8.5 (-107)

In addition to Cole pitching well, Valdez’s ledger is skewed by a pair of tough outings, with 15 of his 38 earned runs against this season coming in just two starts. Much like Cole, Valdez has proven he can be tough to hit around and has allowed two earned runs or fewer in 10 of his appearances this year.

The Tigers have also gone Under their team total in 25 of their last 40 games (+7.75 units / 16% ROI), and the game total has also only gone Over the number in just 21 of their last 50 games (-8.35 units / -15% ROI).

I recommend this Under to -115.

Yankees vs Tigers weather

While it’s a clear forecast with 67°F weather and 0% chance of precipitation, an 11-to-15 mph wind blowing from left to right could push fly balls toward the right-field alley and potentially help left-handed hitters.

Yankees vs Tigers odds

  • Moneyline: Yankees -117 | Tigers +113
  • Run line: Yankees -1.5 (+133) | Tigers +1.5 (-138)
  • Over/Under: Over 8.5 (-100) | Under 8.5 (-104)

Yankees vs Tigers trend

The Yankees have won 10 of their last 12 road games for +7.55 units and a 46% ROI. Find more MLB betting trends for Yankees vs. Tigers.
