The New York Mets will look to avoid a sweep to the Reds in Cincinnati this afternoon.

With the better starting pitcher on the mound, my Mets vs. Reds predictions and MLB picks are banking on the road team taking care of business.

Who will win Mets vs Reds today: Mets moneyline (-135)

The New York Mets have a clear advantage on the mound with Nolan McLean facing off against Nick Lodolo.

McLean owns a 1.14 WHIP, 3.53 xFIP, and ranks in the 82nd percentile in xBA. Those are all good indicators that he hasn’t pitched as poorly as his recent results suggest.

That can’t be said of Lodolo. He ranks in the 20th percentile or worse in xERA, xBA, barrel rate, and strikeout rate. He's also allowed at least one homer in six of seven starts.

Back New York’s bats to get to Lodolo in a winning effort. Playable to -145.

Covers COVERS INTEL: Cincinnati's bullpen sits dead last with a 5.25 FIP this season.

Mets vs Reds Over/Under pick: Over 9 (-110)

The Cincinnati Reds rank 16th in ISO and 19th in hard-hit rate against right-handed pitchers. Isolating opponents who sit Top-20 in both categories, McLean has posted a 5.30 ERA and allowed 1.45 HR/9. That doesn’t bode well for him playing at Great American Ballpark.

Lodolo’s outputs are even more alarming. He is sporting a 5.91 ERA and giving up 2.11 HR/9 at home this season.

The Mets are 16th in wOBA against left-handed pitching this month. While not a prolific offense, they’re capable of exploiting Lodolo. Play the Over to -125.
