Runs will come fast and furious in today's series finale between the Chicago Cubs and Philadelphia Phillies at Citizens Bank Park.

Our Cubs vs. Phillies predictions and MLB picks are eyeing the Over in this Wednesday, June 11 matinee.

Cubs vs Phillies prediction

My Cubs vs Phillies best bet: Over 8.5 (-120 at BetMGM)

Over the last 15 days, the Philadelphia Phillies' pitching staff has posted a bloated 5.14 ERA, as they’ve surrendered at least five runs in their last seven losses.

Lefty Jesus Luzardo takes the hill to try and straighten things out, but he’s not the ideal candidate based on recent form.

He gave up nine hits and eight earned runs in fewer than three innings to the Blue Jays, which came after a start when he was bombed for 12 hits and 12 earned runs in a loss to Milwaukee.

The Chicago Cubs have been treading water over the last week, going 3-4 overall, but they’re still comfortable atop the Central.

Batting continues to be their calling card, as they’re second in the bigs, averaging 5.58 runs per game.

Right-hander Ben Brown’s been roughed up by the Phils this year, allowing six earned runs on nine hits in a 10-4 loss on April 26. Luzardo got the win that day, pitching six scoreless innings of 3-hit ball, but that feels like a lifetime ago, after the hammering he’s taken lately.

The Over has consistently hit in these head-to-heads, going 6-2-2 in the last 10. The pitching matchup against a pair of potent offenses should bring us there again.

Cubs vs Phillies same-game parlay (SGP)

Over 8.5

Cubs team total Over 5.5

Ben Brown 6+ strikeouts

The Cubs have scored at least six runs in each of their last five wins.

Brown had recorded six or more strikeouts in five of his last six starts.

Even in his loss to the Phillies, he fanned five. Assuming he stays in a little longer than 3 2/3 innings, he should be good for another six strikeouts thrown.
