Blue Jays Picks, Predictions & Best Bets vs the Royals for September 20

Shane Bieber can calm Toronto's stormy waters after the Blue Jays lost 20-1 on Friday against the Royals. Kansas City's offense has not been very good outside of that explosion and Bieber has largely looked sharp since his debut.

The Toronto Blue Jays will look to get right after an embarrassing 20-1 loss to the Kansas City Royals on Friday night.

Before that 20-run performance, the Royals averaged just 3.8 runs per game. The law of averages suggests KC’s offense should come back down to earth this afternoon with Shane Bieber on the bump.

Blue Jays predictions for September 20

Today’s Blue Jays best bet: I got a Bieber fever!

Shane Bieber Under 5.5 hits allowed (-125at BetVictor)

The Toronto Blue Jays send Shane Bieber to the mound to go toe-to-toe with Kansas City Royals starter Noah Cameron

Bieber 3-1 with a 3.72 ERA and a 1.00 WHIP in five starts since returning from Tommy John surgery.

The posted total for Bieber’s hits allowed today is 5.5, and it’s a number he’s stayed below in four of his five starts, averaging five hits against per game this season. I expect him to go Under that number again tonight against the Royals.

The Toronto righty throws a heavy dose of the fastball and slider combination. Kansas City has a .249 batting average against the four-seamer and a .231 average against the slider with a 21.7 strikeout rate.

As a unit, it ranks 26th with a 92 WRC+, so it’s not a team that has put up a lot of offense — yesterday aside.

My MLB picks back Bieber to put KC’s offense back in its place after it erupted for 20 runs last night.

Today’s Blue Jays same-game parlay (SGP)

Shane Bieber Under 5.5 hits allowed

Shane Bieber Over 17.5 outs

Ernie Clement Over 1.5 total bases

I’ll continue to back Bieber tonight and go Over 17.5 outs recorded. I’m expecting him to tame the Royals' bats, which should allow him to pitch deep into the game. Toronto will need that after taxing the bullpen yesterday.

Additionally, he’s gone Over that number in four of his five starts this season.

For the final leg, I’ll take Ernie Clement to go Over 1.5 total bases. Clement has crushed lefties this season with a .340 average and a .940 OPS in 163 at-bats against southpaws with 25 extra-base hits.
