The San Jose Sharks have lost six of their last seven games and posted abysmal underlying metrics along the way. It's hard to see things getting any better in the second half of a road back-to-back against the Dallas Stars (73%).
My Sharks vs. Stars prediction sees Jason Robertson making the most of an advantageous matchup while helping Dallas win by multiple goals.
Read on for the full analysis of my NHL picks for Saturday, Nov. 7.
Sharks vs Stars prediction: Stars -1.5
The Dallas Stars are a puck-line play to 55%.
The San Jose Sharks have dropped six of their last seven games, with five of those losses coming by multiple goals. Their only win came against the Canucks.
San Jose's awful run of results has been deserved. The Sharks have controlled just 37.9% of the expected goals at 5-on-5, with no other team sitting below 40%.
Dallas should have little trouble against San Jose in its current form, and the Stars' special teams are also much better. Dallas ranks first in xG generation on the power play and xG suppression on the penalty kill.

Sharks vs Stars combo
The Stars should win by multiple goals while dominating the run of play, and I'm expecting the duo of Jason Robertson and Roope Hintz to do some heavy lifting.
Robertson has faced seven teams ranking in the Bottom 10 in shots against, goals against, or both. He recorded at least four shots in five of those games and attempted 11 shots in one of the exceptions. His volume has been incredible.
Using the same criteria, Hintz has hit the scoresheet in five of seven games. The duo's production is closely linked at 5-on-5 and on the power play.
Sharks vs Stars combo
- Dallas Stars -1.5
- Jason Robertson Over 3.5 shots
- Roope Hintz Over 0.5 points
TOP PICK
Sharks vs Stars player prop: Jason Robertson Over 3.5 shots
Play to 52%.
Robertson has cleared 3.5 shots in four of five games against teams ranking in the Bottom 10 in shot suppression. That includes a four-shot performance against the Sharks.
They've defended poorly all year, but things have gotten even worse of late. The Sharks have allowed more than 32 shots per game over their last 10 and rank 30th in average shot differential during that span.
It's hard to imagine San Jose tightening things up in the second half of a road back-to-back against an elite Stars team.
Sharks vs Stars goal scorer: Jason Robertson
Robertson is playable for a goal to 51%.
He has six goals and 27 shots on target over his last six games against teams ranking in the Bottom 10 in shots against, goals against, or both.
That includes a matchup with the Sharks, when Robertson piled up a goal, an assist, and seven shot attempts.
Opportunities should be plentiful for Robertson given San Jose's current form, and he's a dangerous shooter who generally doesn't need many chances to score.
