Kyle Connor can light the lamp, but it's an assist that will land him on the scoresheet tonight.

The Winnipeg Jets won their fourth game in a row with a 4-0 shutout victory over the Predators on Monday night and are right back in action on New Year’s Eve.

Kyle Connor has been terrific this season, and my Jets vs. Avalanche predictions and NHL picks expect the winger to stay hot on December 31.

Jets vs Avalanche prediction

My Jets pick
Kyle Connor Over 0.5 assists (+113 at Pinnacle)

My Jets analysis
Kyle Connor is in the Rocket Richard conversation, but he has had more assists (29) than goals (22) in the first half of the season.

Since December 5, Connor has 22 points (13 assists) in just 12 games. He’s recorded a point in all but one of those contests and has an assist in eight of those 12 matchups.

Connor is currently riding a seven-game point streak and five-game assist streak. He’s coming off a game with two helpers against the Predators on Monday night and is looking to keep that up in Colorado.

While the Jets winger didn’t record a point in the first meeting, he had two goals and two assists in two regular-season matchups last year and then five points (two assists) in five playoff games.

Overall, Connor has assisted in 21 of 38 games (55%) this season. We’re getting an implied probability of 47% here at +112.

Jets vs Avalanche odds analysis

The Winnipeg Jets are rare underdogs in this evening’s game against the Colorado Avalanche, but it makes sense. It’ll be Eric Comrie starting tonight, and the Jets are 0-3 in the second half of a back-to-back. Winnipeg is 4-7 as an underdog this season, including 3-6 on the road.

The Jets opened as low as +140, but with Jonathan Drouin back for a rested Avalanche team, they’ve taken the majority of the money and tickets leading up to puck drop.

The total hasn’t moved too much from 6.5 here. While the Jets are typically an Under team and the Avalanche and Over one, things have shifted in the crease for Colorado. I would play the Under here if anything.
