The Los Angeles Rams had a long flight home and an extended break to reflect on their Week 1 loss in Australia, and my Giants vs. Rams predictions expect a better effort in Week 2.
L.A. is back in action as a 6.5-point favorite on Monday Night Football, hosting a plucky New York Giants squad coming off a win to start the John Harbaugh era.
I breakdown both sides and give my favorite NFL picks for Sept. 21.

Early Giants vs Rams spread pick: Rams -6.5
Not only do the Los Angeles Rams get an extra break to rebound from the loss to San Francisco but they also have time to adjust their defensive plans with the loss of Myles Garrett.
Sean McVay is an excellent game planner with added time and this stop unit is still loaded with talent, including the return of Aaron Donald to the pass rush. I’m not discounting L.A. too much for a weirdo Thursday trip to the other side of the globe.
I will, however, be cautious of the New York Giants and a lurking letdown spot on MNF. This young New York team won an emotional matchup with Dallas on Sunday night, giving Harbaugh his first win as head coach.
With the contrasting public perception, I see value in getting a very strong Rams side at home with extra rest below the key number of a touchdown.

Early Giants vs Rams total pick: Over 48.5
Matthew Stafford couldn’t get going against the 49ers but faces a softer stop unit from the Giants. New York’s defense looked much better than it truly was in Week 1, due to the offense grinding out gains and chewing up time of possession.
This Cowboys offense only had two second half possessions and while it was limited in action, Dallas ranked out well in terms of advanced metrics like EPA per play DVOA.
The Rams will sell out to stop the run and force the G-Men to pass more. And given the big spread, New York will be playing from behind and pushing tempo much faster than in Week 1 when it was protecting a lead.
This is a fast track indoor at SoFi Stadium and it doesn’t seem likely that L.A.’s offense gets bottled up for a second straight game. I really like the Rams to top their team total at 28.5 (48%).
