The New England Patriots have struggled to cover tight ends. Our NFL predictions expect New York Jets tight end Tyler Conklin to have a major impact on this game.

The New England Patriots won their season opener but have now lost six straight games heading into their home matchup against the New York Jets at Gillette Stadium. New York won the first meeting 24-3 but has lost its last four games since.

Find out why my Jets vs. Patriots predictions expect tight end Tyler Conklin to be involved in the offense in my best NFL picks for Week 8 on Sunday, October 27th.

Kickoff for this AFC East showdown is set for 1:00 p.m. ET from Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, with the game airing on CBS.

Jets vs Patriots prediction

My best bet
Tyler Conklin Over 2.5 receptions (-135 at BetMGM)

My analysis
New York Jets tight end Tyler Conklin has been a steady presence for Aaron Rodgers. He’s consistently found himself getting a decent number of targets in recent weeks, and he’s turned that into a few catches.

After just two catches on four targets in the first two weeks, Conklin broke out with five catches on six targets for 93 yards in Week 3 against the New England Patriots. He’s now had at least three catches in four of his last five games, including four on four targets last week.

The Patriots have also had trouble defending against tight ends this season. They’ve allowed the opposition’s tight end to get at least three catches in all but one of their games this season. Mike Gesicki (three catches), Conklin (five), George Kittle (four), Jonnu Smith (five), Dalton Schultz (four), and Evan Engram (five) have all gone over this 2.5 number.

While the Jets may be leading for most of the game, expect Conklin to be involved. Adams may take away some target share in New York’s offense, but three catches isn’t too much to ask for from the tight end.

Jets vs Patriots same-game parlay

Conklin Over 2.5 receptions

Aaron Rodgers Over 1.5 passing touchdowns

Jets -7

Aaron Rodgers has been a bit up and down this season, but he’s still managed two touchdown passes in four of seven games, including in Week 3 against the Patriots. He’s hit that mark in two of the last three games while the Patriots allowed three touchdowns to Trevor Lawrence two weeks ago.

The Jets are simply the better team here and could have a chance to run the score up a bit against their rival, and they’ll take the chance to do that if they can.
