Atlanta looks to keep its championship hopes alive at home, where the Dream have dominated all season, as Golden State faces an unusually early tip-off.

Home, sweet home. There’s no better place for the Atlanta Dream to snap a two-game skid and save their season with a win over the visiting Golden State Valkyries on Thursday, Oct. 29, at State Farm Arena.

Atlanta has been excellent at home throughout the season, and my Valkyries vs. Dream prediction and WNBA picks expect the Dream to cover a small spread as the home favorites and get off to a fast start to build momentum.

I’m also counting on Angel Reese to clear her rebound line and Rhyne Howard to continue scoring at a high clip.

 TOP PICK
Valkyries vs Dream prediction: Dream -3.5

The Atlanta Dream will get back on track at home, and I’ll trade the spread to -4.5.

After losing five straight and six of seven over the summer, the Dream finished the regular season 17-4 and didn’t lose a game in the first two rounds of the playoffs. Their losses in Games 4 and 5 represent their first losing streak since July 4, a span of nearly four months.

Since July 4, the Dream have outscored opponents by nine points per game across seven contests following a loss.

Thursday’s game was moved from 8 p.m. ET to 12:30 p.m. ET, giving the Golden State Valkyries an unusually early 9:30 a.m. PT tip-off. That schedule change favors the Dream and gives me another reason to back Atlanta ATS.

Covers COVERS INTEL: The Dream’s home dominance gives them the edge on Thursday. Atlanta’s defensive rating has been slightly better on the road (87.9) than at home (89.0), but its home offensive rating of 103.9 is significantly higher than its 88.4 mark on the road. The Dream also boast a 14.9 net rating at home compared to just 0.4 away from Atlanta.

Valkyries vs Dream combo

Slow starts plagued the Dream in each of their Finals losses. In their two wins, Atlanta was +8 in the first half, compared to -22 across its three defeats.

In their last two losses, the Dream scored just 22 and 26 first-half points. With their season on the line, I expect a strong response from an Atlanta team that outscored opponents by 2.5 points in the opening half at home this season.

Angel Reese grabbed just nine rebounds in Game 4 but bounced back with 15 in Game 5. Across eight matchups with Golden State (regular season and Finals), she's averaged 12.6 boards and reached 12+ on seven occasions.

Golden State’s bigs often drift to the perimeter on offense, and with both teams shooting poorly and Reese holding a size advantage inside, she should have no trouble clearing this line again.

  • Dream -1.5 1H
  • Angel Reese Over 11.5 rebounds
