NFL Week 5 AI predictions and analysis
Buccaneers vs Cowboys AI prediction
THU · 8:15 pm ET · Prime VideoMore analysis
Tampa Bay needs Jalon Daniels to protect the ball while adding something with his legs. The rookie will start again with Baker Mayfield sidelined, and his first outing produced 55 rushing yards but also two interceptions against Green Bay. Designed movement and quick throws can help him avoid asking the offensive line to hold up through long reads on a short week.
Dallas just won a 34–30 game in Houston, so the Buccaneers cannot plan on 14 points being enough again. Their route to staying competitive is to sustain drives and make Dak Prescott work from a full field. Tampa Bay gets the narrow spread lean because the line clears a touchdown, but another pair of giveaways could erase that cushion quickly.
Eagles vs Jaguars AI prediction
SUN · 9:30 am ET · NFL Network · LondonMore analysis
Jacksonville's ability to protect the ball can keep Philadelphia chasing in London. Trevor Lawrence completed 18 of 23 passes without an interception in Cincinnati, while the Jaguars took the ball away twice. That combination matters against an Eagles team that needs sustained possessions after losing 24–20 to the Rams.
Jacksonville still has work to do before treating that approach as dependable. Its 13 penalties for 125 yards against the Bengals included flags that erased scoring opportunities. Giving Philadelphia extra chances would make a spread approaching a touchdown much harder to cover. A cleaner game gives the Jaguars a chance to turn their advantage in possession quality into separation on the scoreboard.
Bears vs Packers AI prediction
SUN · 1 pm ET · FOXMore analysis
Chicago's defense can give Tyson Bagent room to play a controlled game. The Bears held the Jets to 157 yards and seven first downs, shutting them out on all seven third-down attempts. Bagent completed 25 of 34 passes for 268 yards in his first start of the season, giving Chicago a viable passing complement to its ground game.
The next step is finishing drives: the Bears scored touchdowns on just two of seven red-zone trips against New York. Leaving those chances to the kicker is harder to survive at Lambeau Field, where Green Bay returns after a 17–14 win in Tampa. The 24–21 forecast favors Chicago outright and Under 45.5, with the projected margin landing exactly on Bears -3.
Bengals vs Dolphins AI prediction
SUN · 1 pm ET · FOXMore analysis
Miami's pass rush gives it a route to staying inside a large number. The Dolphins sacked Kyler Murray four times and held Minnesota without a touchdown, even as another offensive struggle left them winless. That defensive resistance matters against a Cincinnati attack that can accumulate passing yards without consistently finishing drives.
Joe Burrow threw for 428 yards against Jacksonville, but two interceptions helped leave the Bengals with only 17 points. Miami cannot count on another pair of gifts. It needs its running game to keep possessions alive and spare Malik Willis a steady diet of long passing situations. Cincinnati remains the projected winner, while the Dolphins' defensive effort makes taking more than a touchdown the spread lean.
Browns vs Jets AI prediction
SUN · 1 pm ET · CBSMore analysis
The Jets have to get Geno Smith into manageable third downs. New York managed seven first downs and failed on all seven third-down attempts in Chicago. An offense that keeps asking its quarterback to rescue stalled possessions makes both protection and play selection easier for the defense to anticipate.
Cleveland arrives after a 27–24 win over Pittsburgh, while the Jets return home needing a much steadier offensive performance. Quick completions and useful early-down runs would give New York a chance to sustain drives rather than rely on isolated explosive plays. This is a narrow home lean, and a repeat of last week's inability to move the chains would undermine it.
Texans vs Titans AI prediction
SUN · 1 pm ET · CBSMore analysis
Houston needs to close drives on defense after letting Dallas rally. Scoring 30 points was not enough against the Cowboys, and another game in which the opponent hangs around late would be dangerous with Houston laying nearly a touchdown. Tennessee does not need to match the Texans' best stretches to keep this within one score.
The Titans' 24–18 loss in Baltimore also deserves context: they trailed 24–7 at halftime before Lamar Jackson's injury changed the game. A close final margin does not establish that Tennessee controlled the matchup. Cam Ward needs to avoid early mistakes and keep the offense on schedule so Houston cannot dictate obvious passing downs. The projection gives the Texans the win but leaves substantial room for the home underdog to cover.
Colts vs Steelers AI prediction
SUN · 1 pm ET · CBSMore analysis
Pittsburgh needs its passing game to settle down before the fourth quarter. Aaron Rodgers helped erase a two-touchdown deficit in Cleveland, finding Darnell Washington and Pat Freiermuth for late scores, but his two interceptions made the recovery necessary. A more orderly start would let the Steelers use that tight-end involvement without chasing the entire game.
Indianapolis returns from London with a 30–13 victory, though two first-half turnovers showed that its offense was not clean throughout. Daniel Jones and Jonathan Taylor can keep the pressure on Pittsburgh if the Colts avoid giving away possessions. The extra preparation time following the Steelers' Thursday game is useful against a returning international traveler, but the projected margin leaves little room for another turnover-heavy performance.
Raiders vs Patriots AI prediction
SUN · 1 pm ET · CBSMore analysis
New England's renewed use of motion gives Drake Maye a better starting point. The Patriots changed the picture before the snap much more often in Buffalo and paired it with increased play-action. Those tools can help identify coverage and move linebackers out of throwing lanes, easing the burden on Maye to create every opening himself.
Las Vegas still presents a real test after pushing Kansas City to a 30–27 finish. The Patriots need to establish enough on the ground to keep those run fakes credible and avoid letting the game become a succession of obvious passing downs. The 10-point projected margin supplies the week's largest separation from an available representative spread.
Vikings vs Saints AI prediction
SUN · 1 pm ET · FOXMore analysis
Minnesota has a chance to improve its finishing against a vulnerable run defense. The Vikings beat Miami without scoring a touchdown, relying on five field goals while Kyler Murray took four sacks. That leaves a clear task even with an unbeaten record: turn enough sustained possessions into seven points to avoid keeping an opponent within one play.
New Orleans just allowed five rushing touchdowns to Atlanta, and its defense has a short turnaround before another home game. Minnesota should be able to make the Saints defend the run before opening up the passing game. The caution is that field goals alone can keep Tyler Shough and New Orleans alive; stronger protection and cleaner work near the goal line are central to the road favorite's case.
Giants vs Commanders AI prediction
SUN · 1 pm ET · FOXMore analysis
Washington's forecast depends on Jayden Daniels returning at quarterback. Dan Quinn is targeting his return to full practice, but that is not the same as game clearance. This projection explicitly assumes Daniels starts; his ability to threaten the edge would give the Commanders another way to create favorable rushing numbers and keep the Giants from attacking a fixed pocket.
New York is working with Jameis Winston after losing Jaxson Dart for the season and just scored 36 against Arizona. Washington therefore needs more than a quarterback change after its 30–13 loss to Indianapolis in London. Protecting possessions and turning sustained drives into touchdowns matter more than chasing a quick response every time the Giants score.
Broncos vs Chargers AI prediction
SUN · 4:05 pm ET · CBSMore analysis
Denver needs production before its late-game passing urgency arrives. The Broncos had only three points through three quarters at San Francisco, leaving Bo Nix to chase a game the defense had kept close. Earlier success on first and second down would give Denver more control over its play selection and reduce the need for difficult third-down throws.
The Chargers return home after a 30–23 loss in Seattle and need to keep Justin Herbert out of the same sort of catch-up script. Both offenses have reason to prioritize sustained possessions and avoid a mistake that hands the opponent an easy score. Denver gets the narrow outright lean, but a one-point forecast supports Los Angeles with the points and offers little basis for expecting a comfortable win on either side.
Lions vs Cardinals AI prediction
SUN · 4:25 pm ET · FOXMore analysis
Detroit's defense has to stop turning productive offensive nights into rescue missions. Jared Goff passed for 412 yards in Carolina, yet the Lions still lost 32–26. Arizona should have opportunities if Detroit again allows the opposing offense to keep answering, especially with the Cardinals back home after their own 36–24 defeat.
For Jacoby Brissett, the challenge is turning those chances into sustained drives without pressing to match every explosive play. Arizona cannot afford repeated empty possessions against an offense that has shown it can move the ball even in a loss. The model favors Detroit but leaves the Cardinals within the spread; the total lean is narrower and depends on at least one defense forcing more difficult scoring opportunities.
49ers vs Seahawks AI prediction
SUN · 4:25 pm ET · FOXMore analysis
Seattle has to make San Francisco drive the field without surrendering a sudden scoring play. The 49ers kept Denver to three points through three quarters and then finished the game with a 56-yard touchdown pass to George Kittle. That combination can punish an opponent that finally gains momentum only to allow an immediate response.
The Seahawks come in off a 30–23 home win over the Chargers, with Sam Darnold already back in the lineup after returning in Week 3. Protection and patience matter against a defense that just kept another passing offense quiet for most of the afternoon. Seattle's home edge is narrow in the forecast, so a turnover or a missed open-field tackle could easily decide both the game and the spread.
Ravens vs Falcons AI prediction
SUN · 8:20 pm ET · NBCMore analysis
Baltimore must make Atlanta earn its yards on the ground. The Ravens allowed Tennessee 85 rushing yards on 26 attempts, including Cam Ward's scrambles. Keeping that discipline against Bijan Robinson would put more of the game on Michael Penix Jr., rather than letting Atlanta build its passing attack around comfortable early-down gains.
This forecast assumes Tyler Huntley starts while Lamar Jackson deals with an ankle injury; Jackson's status is not settled. Huntley completed eight of nine passes in relief Sunday, but Baltimore did not score after halftime. The Ravens need a productive rushing game and enough intermediate completions to avoid asking their defense to protect a shrinking lead for an entire half.
Bills vs Rams AI prediction
MON · 8:15 pm ET · ESPN/ABCMore analysis
Buffalo can help Josh Allen by keeping the run central to its offense. James Cook gained 75 yards on 12 carries against New England, yet the Bills spent much of the game trying to solve disguised coverage through the air. Making the Rams account for the backfield would give Allen more favorable throwing situations and reduce the need to manufacture every third-down conversion.
Los Angeles returns home after beating Philadelphia 24–20, while Buffalo heads west following its first loss. The Rams' task is to limit Allen's extended plays without conceding steady gains underneath. Both teams can produce explosive scores, but the forecast leaves room for enough stalled drives to stay below a total in the mid-50s, with only a slim home advantage against the spread.
