Jayden Daniels looks set to return for the Commanders on Sunday, but a shaky Washington defense opens the door for the Giants in this NFC East showdown.

The NFC East is in flux after the first four weeks, but the New York Giants hold the early edge — and they can tighten their grip in Sunday's visit to the 1-3 Washington Commanders.

Though Jayden Daniels is expected to be back in the huddle this weekend, Washington is returning from a Week 4 trip to London, and my early Giants vs. Commanders prediction is Jameis Winston will help the Giants cover the spread.

Early Giants vs Commanders spread pick: Giants +3.5

Kalshi probability: 52%

Bet this up to 55%.

The New York Giants got the full Jameis Winston experience over the weekend — three touchdowns, two interceptions — while climbing to 3-1.

Winston's aggressive passing style taps into New York's pass-catching trio of Malik Nabers, Isaiah Likely, and Malachi Fields, and I'm backing the visitors, who are now 5-1 ATS in their last six outings.

Winston can be a wild card, but the Washington Commanders enter with even bigger question marks. Dan Quinn's men have no bye week after a rough loss in London, and the hosts are sweating on the health of both Terry McLaurin and Jayden Daniels, with no Marcus Mariota (knee) to back up their No. 1 QB.

It's fair to wonder if Daniels will be a little tentative here after dislocating his elbow in Week 2, and the New York secondary will be on high alert. The Giants' defense is tied for first in the NFL with six interceptions this year.

The Commanders are 2-5 straight up in their past seven contests, and their defense is rightly under the microscope, having allowed 30.5 ppg so far this year.

Early Giants vs Commanders total pick: Over 43.5

Kalshi probability: 52%

Bet this up to 55% — and it's playable on a line of 44.5 too.

Both teams trend toward the Over: going 8-2 in the Commanders' past 10 games and 7-3 for the Giants in that same span.

The hosts have coughed up 30+ points in three straight outings, while New York racked up 36 points against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 4 despite Winston's erratic day. The Over is now 7-3 in Winston's past 10 starts.

It's also easier to have faith in the Washington offense to pull its weight with Daniels back under center — and the lines would flip quickly if Athan Kaliakmanis is called on for spot duty again.

With these teams combining for just 10 sacks so far this year, pencil both offenses in for steady numbers.
