The 18th-ranked South Florida Bulls have been college football’s breakout story.

Their quest for a third straight win over a ranked opponent to start the season is its stiffest competition this year, when they visit No. 5 Miami.

The Hurricanes beat Notre Dame in an opening week thriller, and crushed Bethune-Cookman, and are very aware of their in-state rivals’ stellar start.

At home Saturday, they’re a hefty 17.5-point favorite to take care of business.

Let’s look at South Florida vs. Miami predictions and college football picks for Saturday, September 13.

South Florida vs Miami prediction

South Florida vs Miami best bet: Miami -17.5 (-115)

I believe the clock is close to hitting midnight on this Cinderella story. USF dusted no. 25 Boise State 34-7 and then hung on in the Swamp to down 13th-ranked Florida 18-16.

That defense ranks second in the American Conference in scoring defense at just 11.5 points per game, but the level up is here on Saturday.

Miami has had no problems scoring the ball behind transfer pivot Carson Beck, who is completing 76.4% of his passes with 4 TDs and no picks through two games.

The Canes have owned this rivalry, winning five of six, including a 50-15 over South Florida last year as 16.5-point favorites. I think they roll here.

South Florida vs Miami same-game parlay

Carson Beck hasn’t had to air it out in his two starts, and that balance should continue Saturday. Miami is averaging 36 points over its first two games, and Beck hasn’t forced anything en route to multiple TD pass efforts both games. I think he stays at two in this one again.

South Florida QB Byrum Brown was the team’s leading rusher in the win Over Florida, carrying 17 times for 66 yards, and he’s cleared the 37.5 rushing line set for Saturday in both games.

I think the Miami game plan is to take that part of his game away, and strictly make him a pocket passer

South Florida vs Miami SGP

  • Miami -17.5
  • Carson Beck Under 2.5 TD passes
  • Byrum Brown Under 37.5 rushing yards

In combination with Miami shutting down Brown’s running attack, that should benefit receiver Keshaun Singleton, who’s averaging 84 yards receiving per game to start the year. He should crush this generous 48.5 receiving line.

And CJ Daniels has three TD’s through the first two games of the season which leads the team.

I like him to keep his scoring streak going against South Florida.

South Florida vs Miami SGP

  • Keshaun Singleton Over 48.5 receiving yards
  • CJ Daniels anytime TD scorer
