Who will win East Carolina vs Memphis: Memphis -9.5
It will be interesting to see how East Carolina rebounds after last week's brutal loss to UAB.
The Pirates led 14-9 entering the fourth quarter before the Blazers forced overtime and eventually won by two touchdowns. It marked only the fourth time in history a team has won in overtime by 13 points.
It's tough to see the Pirates bounce back from that, especially when this team ranks in the Bottom 30 in points per game, yards per game, yards per play, and third-down conversion percentage.
Defensively, they are solid, allowing just 350 yards per game while ranking 39th in third-down defense. However, if Memphis gets into the red zone, it should have no problem scoring, as East Carolina has allowed opponents to score on 100% of their red-zone trips.
Even funnier, Memphis ranks first nationally in opponent red-zone scoring percentage at 60%.
This Tigers offense will be too much for ECU, as Memphis ranks fourth nationally in both yards per game and yards per play. I fully expect the Pirates to get overpowered in this matchup and have the doors blown off them.
Playable up to -13.5, but I'd target -9.5 or better.
COVERS INTEL: Memphis sits atop the nation in yards per play, averaging more than 7.0. Meanwhile, East Carolina ranks 128th out of 138 FBS teams, averaging just 4.5 yards per play.
East Carolina vs Memphis Over/Under pick: Under 53.5
Memphis should be the team to worry about taking this Over, with East Carolina not having the most efficient offense.
Plus, if the Pirates trail for most of the game, they will have to throw the ball, which isn't their strong suit. They are averaging just 27 pass attempts and 152 passing yards per game this season.
Memphis' pass defense should limit the air attack. The Tigers rank ninth in takeaways per game, 19th in sack percentage, and in the top 50 in passing yards allowed.
The total feels a little high for what I expect to be a one-sided affair. I see this being all Tigers, with minimal contributions from the Pirates.

Memphis should dominate both sides of the ball, making the Tigers -9.5 an appealing play as East Carolina faces its toughest test since Week 1 against Alabama.
I love the Tigers to get in and get out early, making Memphis -6.5 in the first half an equally strong angle. With Memphis’ defense making life hell for the Pirates’ offense, the under 53.5 rounds out this combo.
