The BYU Cougars will look to remain undefeated on the year as they visit the 4-1 Arizona Wildcats in a Big 12 matchup on Saturday night.

In what should be a tight game, the Cougars have the edge, and I’m taking them to win outright in my BYU vs. Arizona predictions.

Let’s break down what should be a great game in my free college football picks for Saturday, October 11.

BYU vs Arizona prediction

BYU vs Arizona best bet: BYU moneyline (-120)

BYU is off to a 5-0 start for the second straight year, but is now entering a tougher stretch of its schedule. That starts with a road trip to Arizona, where they’ll take on a Wildcats team that has looked excellent outside of a disappointing blowout loss to the Iowa State Cyclones.

Both teams have been outstanding defensively, with each ranking in the top ten nationally in terms of yards allowed per play and in the top 20 in points allowed.

But it’s BYU that has more offensive strengths it can rely on in what should be a tight, low-scoring game. The Cougars are averaging 5.8 yards per rush, with LJ Martin having piled up 490 yards on the ground over their first five games. In relative terms, this is also a weakness for the Arizona defense, which has completely shut down opposing passers while being merely good against the run, allowing 97.6 rushing yards per game.

This won’t be an easy game for BYU, especially on the road. But that Iowa State loss has raised enough questions for me about the Wildcats and their ability to compete against top-tier competition. I’m taking the Cougars to win outright.

BYU vs Arizona same-game parlay

BYU will win in a battle of two defenses that will make it hard for either side to score. I’m also taking the Under, and I’ll bet on Cougars running back LJ Martin to be the one offensive star to shine by taking him to hit both his yardage Over and score a touchdown.

  • LJ Martin anytime TD

Our deep-ball SGP: Wildcats defense bears down on Bachmeier

The BYU defense should be able to contain Ismail Mahdi, who has been relatively quiet outside of one huge game against the Kansas State Wildcats. Bear Bachmeier won’t be asked to throw much against an Arizona defense that is only allowing opponents to complete 51.3% of their passes this season.

  • Ismail Mahdi Under 50.5 rushing yards
  • Bear Bachmeier Under 1.5 passing TDs

Ed's advice to new bettors is to always open multiple sportsbook accounts and check the odds at each before placing any bet. Successful sports betting is about consistently beating the closing line value, which requires finding spots where one book is offering odds far better than the rest of the market and jumping on those opportunities.
