LSU vs Georgia Odds, Picks and Predictions: Bulldogs Bark the Loudest

Georgia's basketball program has done a complete 180 under Mike White, and it'll look to build on its strong season against LSU. With the Bulldogs taking good care of the ball, our college basketball picks expect the home side to cover.

The LSU Tigers are set to face off against the Georgia Bulldogs tonight. These teams are tied for sixth in SEC standings with a 3-2 record and both schools have dropped two of their last three games.

College basketball odds have the Bulldogs as 3.5-point home favorites, with the Over/Under at 155.5 for this showdown in Athens. Here are my free college basketball picks for LSU vs. Georgia on January 24.

LSU vs Georgia picks and predictions

Mike White is doing a fantastic job in his second year at Athens. In his first season coaching the Georgia Bulldogs, he took over a program that had gone just 6-26 and 1-17 in conference play, and improved its overall record to 16-16 and its SEC record to 6-12. This season, the Bulldogs are 13-5 and have a sparking 10-1 record at home.

While Georgia has lost two of its last three games, those defeats came against Top 10 programs in Kentucky and Tennessee and it covered in both. In fact, the Bulldogs are 5-0 against the spread in their last five games, and before they let their double-digit lead against the Vols slip away on January 13, they had reeled off 10-straight wins.

The LSU Tigers are 11-7 and have a worse record than UGA despite a slightly weaker schedule. They're coming off a 73-69 loss at home to Texas A&M and have gone 5-11 ATS in their last 16 games.

The Tigers thrive at forcing turnovers, running the floor in transition and getting to the rim. Unfortunately for them, the Bulldogs do a good job of taking care of the ball (73rd in turnover rate) and defending the rim (67th in opponent at the rim efficiency).

There isn't much separating these teams in adjusted defensive efficiency per KenPom (Georiga is six spots ahead of LSU) but there's a decent gap on the other side of the floor where the Bulldogs are 87th in adjusted offensive efficiency and the Tigers are 122nd.

Factor in the added benefit of home-court advantage and Georgia is the play as a modest 3.5-point fave here.

My best bet: Georgia -3.5 (-110 at DraftKings)

LSU vs Georgia same-game parlay

Georgia -3.5

Jalen Cook Over 3.5 rebounds

Justin Hill Over 3.5 assists

33% boost available

We've seen the total surge to 155.5 for this contest, and with both teams playing at a fast tempo there's a good chance we see several guys go Over their player props.

Plenty of possessions and subpar shooting from both teams should mean lots of rebounding opportunities for LSU guard Jalen Cook, who has pulled down at least four boards in four of his last five games. Meanwhile, Georgia point guard Justin Hill has dropped at least four dimes in seven of his last eight contests.

LSU vs Georgia spread and Over/Under analysis

This line opened with Georgia at -3.5 and the Over/Under at 153. The spread has shifted to -4.5 at some books although others are still offering -3.5 while the total has moved up to 155.5.

The Tigers are fresh off a close loss to Texas A&M, although they did beat the Aggies on the road two weeks ago. Most of their defeats over the last month have come against strong teams but LSU also lost to Nicholls State and Dayton at the start of the season.

The Bulldogs are coming off a 105-96 loss on the road against Kentucky. Having a pair of close losses to very good Kentucky and Tennessee teams and a win on the road against South Carolina over the last two weeks shows just how competitive this Georgia team can be.
