A Minnesota Timberwolves squad looking to weather the early stages of an extended absence for its top star faces a San Antonio Spurs team that has rebounded to win three straight after back-to-back losses to open the season.
My Timberwolves vs. Spurs prediction backs Minnesota to come in under an expansive 12.5-point spread.
Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. ET at Frost Bank Center, with San Antonio listed as a 12.5-point home favorite.

TOP PICK
Timberwolves vs Spurs prediction: Timberwolves +12.5
The Timberwolves have played two games since losing Anthony Edwards to a knee injury and have covered in both, thanks in part to having a starter-quality replacement in Ayo Dosunmu.
The Spurs are on an upswing, but San Antonio lost its first two home games outright before blowing out an overmatched Kings team in their most recent Frost Bank Center tilt.
The Wolves are 5-1 ATS overall this season, including a spotless 3-0 on the road. The Spurs are 1-2 versus the number at home (2-3 overall), and during last year's four-game regular-season series, Minnesota went 3-1 straight up and lost its only game by just three points.

Timberwolves vs Spurs combo
This combo starts with our aforementioned Timberwolves +12.5 spread prediction, for which we've already laid out the rationale.
I'm then banking on the Under, with an elevated total. The Spurs have tightened up considerably on defense during their three-game winning streak, allowing a modest 106.7 points per game in that stretch, while the Timberwolves are allowing exactly that amount per game for the season.
Finally, given my expectation for the T-Wolves keeping things reasonably close, I like the chances of them being down no more than seven at the half, especially considering they're averaging the 10th-most first-half points per game (59.7), including 62.0 per road game, while the Spurs are allowing 59.0 per first half.

Timberwolves vs Spurs player props
Timberwolves player prop: Ayo Dosunmu Over 14.5 points
Dosunmu has taken over for the sidelined Edwards at two guard and averaged 16.0 points on 52.2% shooting, including 54.5% from 3-point range, over his first two starts.
He also contributed 17.0 points on 48.8% shooting, including 45.1% from deep, in 23 games as a starter with the Bulls and Wolves last season.
The Spurs have also been vulnerable on perimeter defense against twos to open the season, giving up 44.2% 3-point shooting to the position on an average of just under 4.0 made threes per contest.
Dosunmu also scored at least 15 points on 40 occasions in the regular season and postseason between his stints with the Bulls and Wolves, and is 2-0 to the Over in his first pair of starts this season.
Spurs player prop: Victor Wembanyama Under 39.5 points + rebounds + assists
In line with the expectation of the Under hitting in this game and the T-Wolves keeping things competitive, an Under on a very elevated total for Victor Wembanyama is also in play.
He's averaged 35.4 points + rebounds + assists across eight regular-season games against the T-Wolves in his career, going 2-6 to the Over on the 39.5; in last spring's playoff series, he delivered 34.5 PRA across six games.
Wemby has hit the Over on this number in two straight, but those matchups have been against the Jazz and Kings.
The big man's matchup gets an upgrade in caliber Saturday, as Rudy Gobert has done a reasonably effective job against Wemby throughout his career, and Minnesota is also allowing just 43.4% shooting and just 29.1% from deep on the road.
The T-Wolves also rank in the top half of the league in rebound and assist prevention, dimming Wemby's outlook further on such a high number.
