Rockets vs. Suns Prediction

The Phoenix Suns host the Houston Rockets on Saturday, Nov. 7, in the first of three head-to-head meetings this season.

Both teams can score effectively, and my Rockets vs. Suns predictions and NBA picks target a Game Total that’s set a bit too low, given each team’s form.

I’m picking Miles Bridges to keep scoring at a high clip and opposing bigs to showcase their passing as Houston covers as a modest road favorite.

 TOP PICK
Rockets vs Suns prediction: Over 223.5

The Phoenix Suns might be 2-5 this season, but they can still put up points, especially at home. The Houston Rockets' offense has been tremendous on the road, so I’ll trade the Over up to 224.5.

Phoenix sports a 120.8 Offensive Rating at home, good for third-best in the Association. The Suns score 121.8 ppg at Mortgage Matchup Center, good for fifth.

Houston’s road Offensive Rating is second-best at 119.5, and its 119.5 ppg are fifth-best.

Both sides have capable three-point shooters, interior scoring, and strong passing and playmaking bigs. Houston owns the edge in Defensive Rating (110.3 to 119.8), but Phoenix can generate enough offense at home to push the total Over.

Covers COVERS INTEL: After a 207-point total in the opener, Phoenix has had six straight games with a Game Total of at least 221 points. Houston has reached that Game Total in seven of nine games. At 71.4%, the Suns have hit the Over at a higher percentage than any other team, while Houston ranks second at 66.7%.

Rockets vs Suns combo

The Rockets are 7-2 SU and ATS this season, while the Suns have covered in just one of seven appearances.

Houston has quality wins over the Boston Celtics, Atlanta Hawks (2x), and San Antonio Spurs early in the season, and unlike the defensively challenged Suns, the Rockets are elite on both ends of the floor.

Houston is 4-0 across its last four in the desert with a +84 point differential.

Miles Bridges posted an eight-point dud in his Suns debut, but he’s been rock-solid since, averaging 19 points across his last six games and scoring 15+ in each. Devin Booker will likely draw the Amen Thompson assignment, which should mean additional looks for secondary scorers like Bridges.

Rockets vs Suns combo

  • Over 223.5
  • Rockets -6.5
  • Miles Bridges Over 14.5 points

Rockets vs Suns player props

Rockets player prop: Alperen Sengun Over 7.5 assists

Alperen Sengun is one of the best playmaking bigs in the Association, and I’ll trade his assists prop up to 50%.

Houston’s starting center is averaging a career-best 8.1 assists, and his 35.6% Assist Percentage ranks 10th among players averaging 30+ minutes per game. He leads his team in assists and Usage Rate (25.6%), and the offense runs through him.

He’s handed out 8+ in four straight games, and without Steven Adams or Clint Capela available, Sengun should continue to see heavy minutes and clear this line for a fifth straight contest.

Suns player prop: Oso Ighodaro Over 3.5 assists

Oso Ighodaro’s assists prop is a strong value play at 39%, as I project him reaching 5+, so I’ll trade this one up to 4.5.

According to Cleaning the Glass, Ighodaro owns a 24.3% Assist Percentage and a 1.53 Assist-to-Usage ratio, both ranking in the top-10 percentile in the Association.

The big man is averaging a career-best 3.6 assists per game and has reached 4+ in two of his last four appearances.
