Orlando gets an immediate shot at redemption in Toronto on Friday, but after a 30-point blowout earlier this week, the Raptors hold a massive upper hand in this NBA Cup opener.

My Magic vs. Raptors prediction is that the issues that reared their ugly head during Wednesday's 30-point drubbing will still be problematic 48 hours later for the visitors.

Toronto will defend its home floor at Scotiabank Arena once again, this time as a 5.5-point favorite for a 7:30 p.m. ET tipoff in the 2026 NBA Cup group stage.

Let's dive into my analysis and NBA picks for Friday, Oct. 30.

 TOP PICK
Magic vs Raptors prediction: Raptors -5.5

Play up to 60%.

Both the Orlando Magic and Toronto Raptors are dealing with major injuries, yet it was Toronto that managed to overcome key absences — mainly Kawhi Leonard (knee) — en route to a 129-99 drubbing on Oct. 28.

Not having Paolo Banchero, Jalen Suggs, and Jonathan Isaac decimated Orlando's viable offensive options, with the team shooting just 41% from the field. All three will be out of the rotation once again on Friday.

The Raptors' three victories have come with a league-best net rating of 25.9, fueled largely by a defense that's held opponents to just 91.4 points per 100 possessions. Even without their 2019 Finals Most Valuable Player, the defensive arsenal head coach Darko Rajakovic still has at his disposal remains deep, long, and tenacious.

Scottie Barnes scored 28 points, matching the combined total of Franz Wagner and Desmond Bane. That's not a recipe for success for Orlando, especially with Banchero sidelined after averaging 24.5 points per game.

Covers COVERS INTEL: Since 2021, the Magic are 4-6 straight up and 5-5 on the spread after losing a game by 30 or more points when entering as a road underdog.

Magic vs Raptors combo

Wednesday's victory was the Raptors' second in a row over the Magic and the sixth in their last seven meetings dating back to Jan. 2025. The last two were by an average margin of 41 points.

A 228-point total was just the third time in the last 10 matchups between these two sides that an Over was registered in this market. A repeat defensive performance from Toronto will keep Orlando's scoring to a minimum, and therefore increase the likelihood of an Under.

Tristan da Silva led the Magic with 20 points on 8-of-11 shooting. He's now gone Over Wednesday's prop of 12.5 points in three of his first four outings, but it's safe to assume the Raptors will have his name circled this time around and look to prevent another outburst.

Magic vs Raptors player props

Magic player prop: Wendell Carter Jr. Over 8.5 rebounds

Play up to 58%.

Make it three games in a row that starting center Wendell Carter Jr. has pulled down nine or more rebounds for his squad.

He grabbed a season-high 10 in 26 minutes on Wednesday, with Toronto's five men Jakob Poeltl and Collin Murray-Boyles dealing with foul trouble.

Carter Jr. had 19 rebounding chances versus the Raptors, as well, which was eight more than any of his teammates. Nine boards on Friday is a conservative estimate considering his effective play on the glass.

Raptors player prop: Scottie Barnes Over 20.5 points

Play up to 62%.

Removing the goose egg he conjured up in a blowout loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Oct. 25, which looks like an anomaly, Barnes is producing a team-best 26.3 points on a crisp 50% shooting from the field across Toronto's three wins.

It was reassuring to see the two-time All-Star bounce back from that aforementioned abysmal showing and dominate the Magic days later, as he did.

He scored 12 of his 28 points when either Wagner or Carter Jr. was the primary defender. With Banchero out, and evidently little resistance, I expect Barnes to continue imposing his will and have another highly efficient scoring line.
