The New York Yankees will look to keep things rolling this evening against the Texas Rangers with two strong pitchers on the mound that couldn’t be in more different places in their career.

The Yankees have now won nine of their last ten games, and my Yankees vs Rangers predictions don’t expect them to slow down here.

Who will win Yankees vs Rangers today: Yankees moneyline (-116)

This is the lowest moneyline price on the New York Yankees with Cam Schlittler starting since his season opener against the Mariners, where New York won as an even-money underdog. It might be the lowest we see him priced for a while, and I'm not passing up this chance. It's playable to -125. The matter of Jacob deGrom isn't a small one, but I don't really need to tell you that it isn't the deGrom of even two years ago. He's perhaps the greatest pitcher of my lifetime, but he's also 37 years old this season with a barrel problem.

His groundball percentage ranks in the bottom 4th percentile, and his average exit velo sits in the bottom 10th. When hitters make contact against him, they are squaring it up, and they are keeping it in the air. Against a Yankees lineup with Ben Rice, Aaron Judge, and Giancarlo Stanton all carrying elite barrel rates, that combination is not very survivable.

Covers COVERS INTEL: Jacob deGrom's ground-ball percentage ranks in the bottom 4th percentile of baseball.

Yankees vs Rangers Over/Under pick: Under 7.5 (-115)

We documented the Texas Rangers' bottom-five whiff rate yesterday, and that seems like a big issue against Schlittler, enough to make me back the Under.

His numbers are elite across the board, but what’s most troubling for Texas is his top 10 percentile strikeout rate that’s paired with a top 20% whiff rate. That’s a big issue given that Texas struggles at the plate. On the other side, deGrom does enough to keep this low. He has a strong enough arsenal of weapons to work through the bottom of the Yankees order and limit damage even if the top of the lineup gets to him.
