Both the Seattle Seahawks and the Pittsburgh Steelers started new quarterbacks in Sam Darnold and Aaron Rodgers last weekend, but it was Rodgers who shone, rolling back the years as he beat the Jets, his former team.

My Seahawks vs. Steelers predictions expect his impressive start to continue, and I'm taking the Steelers to cover the spread. Don’t miss my NFL picks for Sunday, September 14, with kickoff at 1:00 p.m. ET at Acrisure Stadium on FOX.

Seahawks vs Steelers Best bet: Steelers -3 (-102)

There were a few warning signs around the Pittsburgh Steelers last Sunday, even in a win. However, the Jets ground game with the dual-headed threat of Breece Hall and Justin Fields was very impressive and will cause teams headaches all season long.

We know that there’s talent on this Steelers defense, and we should see their fourth-last DVOA rank improve. They have a chance to do that immediately against a Seattle Seahawks team that looked anemic in defeat to the 49ers.

The Seahawks had just one touchdown, and most worrying was that Sam Darnold — fresh from reinvigorating his career in Minnesota — played very poorly, completing just 16 of 23 passing attempts with 150 yards.

The reason the Steelers should win and cover here is simple — Aaron Rodgers.

Last week’s performance was his best in at least three seasons. He threw four touchdown passes and finished with a QB Rating of 136.7.

If he can maintain anything like that standard, then the Steelers cover here and become a real threat in the AFC.

Seahawks vs Steelers same-game parlay

Rodgers started brilliantly last week but even last year, in a poor year for the Jets, he still threw multiple touchdown passes in over 50% of his games. If he’s back, and it looked like he might be, then he could be electric here.

Arthur Smith loves incorporating tight ends into his offense, and we saw last week how he plans to use Jonnu Smith in Pittsburgh. Smith was tied for the most targets inside the 20 for the Steelers, and ended up finding the end zone. This should be a pattern we see continue all season long.

Seahawks vs Steelers SGP

  • Steelers -3
  • Aaron Rodgers Over 1.5 passing TDs

Our big-ticket SGP: Jonnu kid in town

  • Let's double down on Smith by backing him to have Over 3.5 receptions. He caught five of six targets last Sunday and is primed to do the same again.
  • Zach Charbonnet outpaced Kenneth Walker III in carries and yards per carry, as well as touchdowns, 1-0. Let's bank on that continuing.
