A red-hot Wildcats program is being disrespected ahead of this conference clash in Norman.

Kentucky has won consecutive games in overtime via walk-off conversions, but the Wildcats will look to beat Oklahoma in regulation when they meet in Norman on Saturday night.

The Sooners enter off an emotional win against Texas, and my Kentucky vs. Oklahoma prediction explains why they're right to be favored — but not by 6.5 points.

Read on for my college football picks ahead of this SEC clash on Oct. 16 at 7:30 p.m. ET.

 TOP PICK
Who will win Kentucky vs Oklahoma: Kentucky +6.5

Kentucky has an opportunistic defense that thrives on bending until they can capitalize on a mistake — and John Mateer is making plenty of those this season.

In his two SEC games so far, Mateer has six turnover-worthy throws from 60 pass attempts. Making matters worse, he's fumbled five times.

The Wildcats rank eighth in turnovers forced per game, while Oklahoma is 92nd in INT rate and 122nd in turnovers per game.

Kenny Minchey has shown he can deliver in the clutch, and his poise is why I'll back the Wildcats to keep this within a touchdown — and to possibly win if CJ Baxter can go at running back.

Playable to 54%.

Covers COVERS INTEL: Mateer's 5.8% turnover-worthy pass rate is the eighth-highest among the 131 QBs with at least 100 drop-backs this season. He also ranks seventh in turnover-worthy throws, despite ranking just 85th in passing attempts.

Kentucky vs Oklahoma Over/Under pick: Under 43.5

The reason I can't pick the Wildcats to get the win outright is that nasty Oklahoma defense. It's also why I'm backing the Under, playable to 54%.

The Sooners rank Top 5 defensively in EPA/pass, EPA/rush, early down EPA, and third-down success. They also have the nation's top adjusted EPA/play and net EPA/play defense.

Both of these offenses struggle to convert on third down, and the Sooners have one of the least reliable rushing attacks in the nation.

If Baxter misses out for Kentucky, then the Under becomes even more attractive.

Kentucky vs Oklahoma combo

Oklahoma has scored just two first-half touchdowns over its last four games, including zero points in the first quarter during that span.

Meanwhile, the Wildcats have scored just 21 first-quarter points over their last five contests, failing to score in the opening 15 minutes in three of those matches.

Given how well both defenses have played, I'm backing another low-scoring opening stanza.
