On the "Third Saturday in October," Tennessee hosts Alabama at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville, Tenn., as the Volunteers look to win against their rival for the third time in five years.

The Crimson Tide are 7.5-point road favorites, and my Alabama vs. Tennessee prediction and college football picks expect Kalen DeBoer to continue Nick Saban's tradition of blowing out the Vols.

 TOP PICK
Who will win Alabama vs Tennessee: Alabama -7.5

If last week was any indicator, Tennessee has far more problems than Alabama, despite the Volunteers' win and the Crimson Tide's loss.

In George MacIntyre's first start for Josh Heupel, he finished with just a 10.3 QBR in a seven-point win against Arkansas. He'll be starting again against Bama, which is why I like the Tide to cover -9.5 or better.

Arkansas lost to its previous three Power Four opponents by an average of 29.3 points, including a 28-point defeat to Georgia — the same team Alabama lost to by just three on the road last week.

Tennessee's offense won't be able to keep up with Alabama. Keelon Russell ranks third nationally in QBR (90.0), and the Tide are top 20 in offensive success rate (50.1%).

The Alabama vs. Tennessee rivalry history is full of winning streaks, and this could be the start of another.

Covers COVERS INTEL: The Crimson Tide are No. 2 in college football in net adjusted EPA per play and top 25 in available yards percentage on both offense and defense.

Alabama vs Tennessee Over/Under pick: Over 50.5

For this Over to hit (I'd take it at 51.5 or better), Alabama will need to do the bulk of the scoring, and the Tide will push for 31+ points given Russell's recent play.

The former five-star recruit has put up an 80.9+ QBR in four straight games while accounting for 14 TDs. His dual-threat ability has helped open up the run game, too, with Alabama ranking fourth nationally in rush success rate (53.3%). That will force Jim Knowles' defense to stay honest instead of solely focusing on protecting the back end.

Meanwhile, Tennessee should be able to put up 20+ points to help push the total Over. The Volunteers have one of the best run games in the country (No. 2 in EPA per rush), led by DeSean Bishop. Bishop ranks top 10 nationally in rushing yards after contact (465).

Alabama vs Tennessee combo

One word describes Tennessee's passing game: rocky. The Volunteers are 128th nationally in pass success rate (33.8), and MacIntyre has a QBR of 24.7 this season. That won't cut it against an Alabama defense tied for the 14th-most sacks in the country (17).

I'm expecting a fast start from Russell after last week's tough loss to Georgia, and once Bama takes the lead, Tennessee isn't equipped to come back with MacIntyre behind center.

The Tide, who are ninth nationally on defense in rush success rate (35.4%), should be able to focus on slowing Bishop enough to win by 10+ points.
