Two playoff teams from last year will meet to try to salvage their seasons as the 3-9 Washington Commanders travel to U.S. Bank Stadium to face the 4-8 Minnesota Vikings.

The return of Jayden Daniels will play a much bigger role in this game than the return of J.J. McCarthy.

Find out who I like in my Commanders vs. Vikings predictions and NFL picks for Sunday, December 7.

Commanders vs Vikings prediction

Commanders vs Vikings Best bet: Jayden Daniels Over 38.5 rushing yards (-114)

It has been a tumultuous second year for Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels, who has been in and out of the lineup with multiple injuries.

He missed two games early in the year due to a knee sprain, one game in the middle of the season due to a hamstring injury, and three games recently with a dislocated elbow.

However, Daniels is ready to return, and with a 3-9 record, there is no way he is returning unless he is at no risk of further injury or limited by the previous injuries. That is why I feel comfortable taking him here on his rushing prop in a great matchup.

The Minnesota Vikings have an excellent defense and get a ton of pressure on the quarterback. But for that same reason, they also are bad at defending quarterback scrambles, and Daniels is one of the best in the league at scrambling when needed.

The Vikings have the second-best pressure rate in the NFL but rank 25th in the league in defending quarterback scrambles. Only the Green Bay Packers in Week 2 were able to hold Daniels to less than 35 yards rushing.

He is averaging 43.7 yards per game on the ground, and we are getting a low number here just because he is returning from injury.

Commanders vs Vikings same-game parlay

To add to my best bet, I am going to add Chris Rodriguez Jr. to find the end zone, since the Vikings rank 17th in defending rushing in the red zone and have allowed 11 rushing touchdowns this season.

Finally, I am taking Daniels to stay Under his passing total as he has struggled to hit passes against the blitz this season.

Commanders vs Vikings SGP

  • Jayden Daniels Over 38.5 rushing yards
  • Chris Rodriguez Jr. anytime touchdown
  • Jayden Daniels Under 216.5 passing yards
